Norm Peterson Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Strikes me a little like when we hired Collier, to me... Did Collier win two games in the NCAA tourney? I didn't think he did.  But you may be right about the comparison. Quote
TheGov21 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Interesting, but not surprising move in my opinion. USC needs some excitment in their basketball program and with the talent in the state they are hoping he can bring "Dunk City" to Troy. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 ...and Minnesota's AD stands by the side of the road and waves as yet another coach rambles by and leaves a large cloud of dust to stick to his tear stained cheeks. Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Enfield gets the most out of his players. Â He was one of the most sought after shooting coaches in the NBA before Leonard hamilton brought him in to resurrect Florida State; which he helped do. He's a better hire than Collier without question. Â Collier was the Dan hawkins of coaches riding the coat tails of his predecessor at a niche school. TheGov21 and Norm Peterson 2 Quote

Mr. Red Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 From the ESPN article: "Enfield's team earned the nickname "Dunk City" for its spectacular dunks and alley-oops. The Eagles scored 70 or more points 25 times this season, and ranked 16th nationally in steals with 8.9 per game." Â For Runza's sake, good thing this guy wasn't such a big deal last choach hiring season... Norm Peterson, Silverbacked1 and TheGov21 3 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 It's what I call the "Pit Bull Theory" Â Remember back in the 80's(?) when Pitbulls where the worst thing ever? Â Every magazine had them on the cover, everybody had a horrible story about one. Â Well everybody went nuts about them for about 2 weeks even cities made it so that they couldn't live in them. Â Well the next big thing came along and suddenly they are totally forgotten about. Â Now we have cities where you can't own one, but we have a t.v. show that shows how with proper care they are good dogs. Â Same thing here, jump on it now as we will forget about it later. Quote
The_Vault Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 I really don't think this guy is that special. If FGCU doesn't win a couple tourney games no one mentions this guys name at all. A couple of wins shouldn't get you a major job like usc. Quote

not only that but this guy was sought after by many players to work with them in the off-seasons because hes known as an incredible shooting coach.  I think if he can recruit like he did at FSU and coach up his players like he did at FGCU he will do just fine at USC.  Plus now his wife can work again in LA. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

AuroranHusker Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 A couple of wins shouldn't get you a major job like usc.It didn't it is at USC  Southern Cal has not been much of a "major" job in the past 5 seasons with a seemingly yearly coaching carousel. Their last good year was when O.J. Mayo roamed the sidewalks at USC (note that I didn't say "hallways" because I don't believe O.J. ever did that).  Our Huskers have beaten the Trojans in 4 straight ballgames, and it's certainly not a stretch to say that LA's "major" program resides across town at UCLA. hhcmatt Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 did he really recruit anyone that special? his best player was a walk-on... Â That's kind of the point. He built a roster that made the Sweet 16 out of nothing. At USC he should be able to pull in guys just because he's at USC. Â Here is an explanation behind the appeal of Enfield Quote

Although, it may not be as great a gig as it could be because virtually no one attends their games & they've gone 20-42 in the past 2 years.  Probation may also be in effect... Quote

Norm Peterson Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Be interesting to see him start kicking Steve Alford's @$$ all over the place every year. How long would Alford last in Westwood if that happens? Not very would be my guess. We'll see what happens. I don't think Alford is a slouch but we'll see.
