GATA Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 ... until we're debating how far we can go in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday. It's only a matter of time fellas. Quote
basketballjones Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 I honestly feel like its coming... Coach Miles set a foundation this year. Built the cornerstones of this program. I loved Doc, but I never felt like a foundation was set - just constant quick fixes and lack of vision. But I might be wrong about that - just how I felt. Quote
rwmctrofholz Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 ... until we're debating how far we can go in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday. It's only a matter of time fellas. Agreed. I actually just yearn for a year when we can have a realistic discussion about the prospect of making the tournament at this again. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 NITs next year with a talented group coalescing into a unit. NCAAs the year after that with a talented AND experienced group. Sweet 16 in year 4 with an experienced and senior-laden group of kids who will take that NCAA monkey off this program's back. That's how I'm seein' it. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 And Vooch the MVP of the Big Ten tourney. (Shoulda mentioned that earlier as part of my prognostication.) Quote

colhusker Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Norm, Vooch will win the Wooden award that year too! I think happier days are coming and coming soon! Quote

Not sure how tongue in cheek you are with this Norm, but I'm not so sure you're not right on with this. At minimum, I think it's a distinct possibility (see my post in another thread referencing Georgia Tech and Bobby Cremins). If you're being reasonably serious, I'll jump on this bandwagon with you. Sweet 16 in 2016! Quote
Hooper Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 And Vooch the MVP of the Big Ten tourney. (Shoulda mentioned that earlier as part of my prognostication.) You're a dreamer, Norm. You can't play in the B1G tourney when you're starting in the NBA! Quote

Sweet 16 in 2016! Not tongue in cheek. I think it's doable if some things fall into place that we've talked about. And I don't mean pie-in-the-sky things falling into place. I mean reasonable, realistic things falling into place. Quote
Handy Johnson Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Vooch has Bill Johnson from Plainview written all over him. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Vooch has Bill Johnson from Plainview written all over him. Bill was tall. (And had bad acne as I recall.) Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 If I recall, Bill was a Native American and kind of busted his tail while playing for a year or maybe two. Late 80's? I also thought that when he left, he went into coaching? Maybe it is all my imagination...but he was around 6'7" or so. Quote

Yea and I don't think either played much and both transferred out ? IIRC, Lance had a pretty nice career wherever he ended up. Were they both from NE ? For the sake of throwing out tall guy's names that never played much here and transferred out... remember Victor Chacon (sp?) ? Quote

For the sake of throwing out tall guy's names that never played much here and transferred out... remember Victor Chacon (sp?) ? Berwald was from Minnesota, I believe. I think he could have eventually been a role player here, but he did have a nice career after transferring. He had one glorious game here at home against Wyoming, I believe, where he came off the bench and scored double figures. Victor Chacon from Panama. Ended up at Doane, I think. A lot of intrigue with that guy's signing. And he ends up at Doane. Quote
Handy Johnson Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Without digging through my old media guide, I believe Bill Johnson was 6'10", he was Native American, and never played much. I had buddies from Hartington and Wynot that played against him in High School. Here's hoping Vooch fills out ala' Ubel, because he does have a nice touch around the bucket. Quote
