I hope he's ready to make a decision in the next week. If he picks ASU, which is probably likely, it will be hard to be upset, since he's from the area.

I'll be extremely disappointed if he ends up at BYU or Miami-Ohio. BYU is a very unattractive option for non-LDS students IMO and Miami-Ohio is a far-inferior option to Nebraska.

This staff needs to show that they can close the deal on a player like Tummala. Losing to ASU would be understandable. Losing to BYU would be frustrating, but they are a better hoops program than we are right now. Losing to Miami-Ohio would be extremely disappointing and make me question whether or not we have a strong enough recruiting staff in place.

Like virtually everyone else here, I'm very hesitant to criticize this staff, because I like them a lot and always want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn't mean I'll just overlook red flags if I see them, and losing a player like Tummala to Miami-Ohio would be a big red flag to me in terms of our ability to recruit effectively and sell the program.

Getting kind of antsy.  Wish we had some news on this one.

Yeah, me too.  When were his visits scheduled for?

Already visited ASU. Visiting Miami OH right now.

We might know something by Monday.

Really, really, really want Tummala at Nebraska!

What you said.  I'd be shocked to lose him to Miami-Ohio.  I don't like being shocked...

Robin Washut was just on 93.7 The Ticket and said:

Tummala isn’t returning calls or responding to texts

Hasn’t heard anything about Tummala’s visit to Miami (OH)

His gut tells him that it is between Nebraska and ASU

Thinks Nebraska is in a good spot

Not sure.  He didn't say.  Hopefully everyone

Decision could come by late next week? Seriously? Is that just a guess or what? Decision could come within the next 3.5 weeks or as early as midnight tonight.

I'm actually encouraged that its taking him this long. Sai is thinking long and hard about what was offered to him here at Nebraska. He didnt commit immediately when the hometown team made his offer commitable. We definitely have some pull here or else he would've been gone to ASU immediately.

What stinks about recruiting is that not just our staff, but every staff in the nation can only do soo much.  They can only say soooo much.  They can only offer soooo much.  The decision in the end still lies with the athlete.  The good thing about Sai is he gets it.  If he has a basketball career after college, then great, but he knows theres more out there than just basketball, and he wants to make the best decision on what will affect him through life.  He is not making his decision based on weather, or women, or a certain program or coach.  Though those factors probably have some pull, with Sai I feel that they are not the deciding factor as are with some athletes.

I'm not going to draw any grand negative conclusions about our recruiting if he decides to go to Miami of Ohio.   I would just point out again that both Sai and Mathew A have noted how honest coach was with them.    So, if he chooses Miami of O, it COULD simply be that he sees the opportinity to play early and often.    Where as with us, that MAY not happen.

Honesty is great. Candor is often not so great. However, even a candid assessment of our roster suggests that there's plenty of playing time for a guy like Tummala if he comes in and takes care of things on his end.

This is one we have to win against a program like Miami-Ohio. We can't let them beat us merely on the potential to play more minutes. We simply have to recruit more effectively than that. Nebraska has too many advantages over a program like Miami-Ohio to allow them to beat us for Tummala.

Think about the goals we all have for this program. Think about what it will really take to achieve those goals. Think about what it will take even to elevate this program into being a middle-of-the-pack B1G basketball program. You start by winning these types of battles, and you build from there. You do not do it by losing guys like Sai Tummala to garbage programs like Miami-Ohio, even if they can offer a few extra minutes of playing time.
