I don't necessarily disagree, but Eric Dixon was just named an all-american and is the nation's leading scorer.

He’s legit.   Maybe it’s my lack of respect for the Big East and the rest of our roster this year that pushes me towards Brice.

Harper is legit though too.  But the fact that this team as it was constructed was even close to being in the conversation is a testament to Brice.  Juwan would’ve played for a lot of teams.   No one else is in the top 7-8 for one of the 8 tourney teams from the Big Ten.

Much like any game Nebraska has played this year it's about how motivated they are.  If they are there to play, they'll be in the mix to win the whole thing.  If they aren't, they'll get bounced in one game.

this tournament has a good chance to stick. what college kids don't want a free trip to vegas in the spring? 

 

and with a cash prize it's going to draw some good teams every year and will be competitive.

Re: the timing of the tourney

 

Last season Andrew Morgan was the first player to sign with us out of the portal and that was on Monday, April 8th. That was the Monday of the championship tournament.

Just so we're clear. Now that I know this information. I will be in full freakout mode in 2 weeks and 6 days if we haven't secured our first transfer portal addition. And I will lay all the blame on our participation in this tournament. Fair or not

 

On the flip side if we win it, all will be forgiven. Me and Nebraska basketball have that kind of relationship. I'm the love starved romantic partner willing to keep this relationship going for even the slightest pathetic success. Nebraska basketball the indifferent aloof partner that you're pretty sure doesn't intend to always be devastating, but you're never really quite sure if that's true or not.

When I think about the $$$ of the Crown, I personally think about the money I'm not spending to take 5 people to 1+ NIT games.

And the portal "opening" on March 24th just means the first day coaches can start recruiting transfers, right?

Although I'm sure there are a lot of players who've known since January where they'll be playing next year.

Maybe if we can stick around long enough in this tournament we can find a transfer or two in this tournament. Good chance to see them in different settings than just on film and word of mouth.

If we make it to the championship game, then that prevents Fred from going to the Final Four coaches events and landing a big new job somewhere. So, win-win. </sarcasm>
