I've heard Minnesota IF they part eays with Johnson.

I am surprised he wasn't able to find more success there.  I have heard they lack funding which makes it much harder.

That is a shock.   Thought he was doing a good job there.    I am sure he will land on his feet.   Think Utah will have a hard time finding someone better.   Would hate having him at a Big 10 opponent.

If Iowa decides to make a coaching change, I've been wondering if they will target the Drake head coach. He's built Drake into a mid-major power.

Are you talking about Darian DeVries who was the coach there for 6 years and left for West Virginia this season or Ben McCollum who is there on year 1 with a 25-3 record?

Disregard my last comment, I forgot that DeVries was actually the guy who put Drake on the map. I need to do a better job of fact checking my comments.

Actually, Drake has a pretty decent basketball history.  Black Magic Lloyd and Pop Wright were examples of prey good players.

During the Maury John years in the sixties, Drake was frequently rated in the top 20s and went to the Final Four in 1969. I played pickup basketball against his son in 1972 and discovered he was a grade one jerk on the court.

He did have a son named John, but the one I played against was Maurice John Jr. He became an ophthalmologist in Indiana and evidently still practices at age 81. Don't know if he is still a jerk though.

Yup, Dolph stayed close to the program by becoming a long time sports anchor.  

I was forced to move to Des Moines for a four year stretch.   I couldn't consider being either an Iowa or Iowa State fan, so I used time to attend some Drake basketball, football (yes they had football at that time and the Drake Relays.  Actually it was a pretty good sports school.

Side story, my wife worked with the wife of the head football coach, and I got to hang with him on a few occasions.  I also worked out at a facility that was managed by Mike Naderer's girl friend.  Got to hang with them as well.  Mike was an assistant on the basketball team for a year or so.  Mike of course was a guard on the Cornhuskers.

I lived in Des Moines from 1970 - 1973, and the Missouri Valley Conference was great during the early 1970's.  Members included:  Drake, Louisville, St Louis, Memphis, Tulsa, Bradley, North Texas, Wichita, New Mexico State and West Texas A & M.

Is Gottlieb gonna be a one-and-done? Or are we gonna two years of pure comedy from his coaching career? He had a 21-game losing streak this season.

He should be one and done but Green Bay got exactly what they signed up for.  More or less a publicity stunt.  I don't feel bad for either side.
