A couple of 2027 offers

 

Addison Medeck, Papillion-La Vista South, 6-3

Averaged 9.5 Points and 9 rebounds a game for Papio South as a freshman. Played on ETG 16 this summer. Just a quick scan of her Twitter she had been offered by South Dakota State and South Dakota.

 

Maddie Vickery, Washburn Rural (Topeka, KS), 6-1 MO Phenom EYBL 15u (15u EYBL National Champions). Another quick Twitter scan, she has offers from other Big 10 schools Purdue, Michigan State, and Michigan. Others include Arkansas, Oklahoma, SMU, Harvard, and Yale. She has visited Iowa and Oklahoma State, not sure about offers.

Where are the bigs, indeed. I’m still disappointed with how we did in the transfer portal this spring. We needed to bring in some talent in the post. 
Imagine how much this program will miss Markowski after this season. We have no hope of finding any one player who will be able to come in and do everything that Alexis brought to the table.

Don't know who "Dixie" (recent opponent) is, but jeeezz!   35 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 steals is a rarity in HS.  And in two other games she had TWELVE and SIXTEEN steals!  !!!   Sixteen is one every 2 minutes!

I watched her (streamed her game with Dixie) and she plays great offense and is really good on defense averaging six steals per game.  Her high school Snow Canyon would be a smaller class A school in Nebraska.  It will be fun to watch her play with Britt next year.

We need more than the girl from Utah.  We need an infusion of athleticism and size from the portal.  I cannot see Kennadi Williams providing much help.

Trying to play two sports in college is a major challenge. We only need to look at full time volleyball player and part time basketball player (on a BB scholarship) who left to go to PSU. She was a much better player after just playing VB. I think had Maggie stayed here at NE and just played BB it would have been the same story. I really think Kennadi should choose one sport.

Not much to do on this brutally cold day so I was checking out WBB recruiting.  Iowa is loading up on some top talent.  Michigan, Indiana, Illinois are all getting at least one top prospect.  Kansas has three!  Nebraska?  Not even on the board.  It appears the transfer portal will be where we need to acquire help for next season.

Iowa still has the Catlin Clark affect going for them. If they start wining more consistently it will continue.

 

IHOP again, and I agree we need to change the nature of out team, speed, quickness, etc etc, rebounding....

(maybe through the portal, which  Amy seems to be passing on , so far)

 

We'll be losing lots of roster next season. Just hope we get Potts back at the very least.

They had a potential recruit at the game a few weeks ago. I saw Taylor showing her family and her around during pregame festivities. I have no idea what class she is or where she is from.

Assuming Natalie and Allison returns and nobody transfers, it appears we lose four to exhausted eligibility.   Those four being Alexis, Kendall M, Kendall C and Alberte.  

Finding a true big is likely biggest priority.  Finding one from the high school ranks, ready to play significant quality minutes, is difficult at best.  So my guess is that we will pound the portal and/or foreign leagues for that haystack needle.

The other three are guards and/or guard/forwards.  Thought we already secured the services of a pretty dang good guard/shooter already.

So that leaves two needs.  My vote is that we turn rocks over for a physical/defensive minded forward and a quick, pesty, annoying guard.
