hhcmatt Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 I think there are certain matchup that work in our favor and I see this 3pt shooting team with only two players with a large number of 2s at a low percentage and think this is a very good matchup for us. 49r 1 Quote
B-town hoopsfan Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 I watched them when they played Minnesota, thought they would eventually pull it out but they had no answer for Murphy or Washington. We should match up w them extremely well. 49r 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted December 11, 2018 Report Posted December 11, 2018 Inexcusable for OSU to be 4-5 right now. No way they should have lost at Charlotte or Tulsa. They should be 6-3 at worst, not 4-5. This was supposed to be a Q1 win against a top 50 team on a neutral floor and those guys have ruined it. Jerks. After losing to NU Sunday, I'd imagine that OSU will have plenty of opportunities in the Big 12 to pick up some quality wins to boost their NET rankings, eventually. We'll have to wait & see. tcp Posted December 11, 2018 Report Posted December 11, 2018 can't accuse them of creampuffing it on the schedule. but some headscratchers on there. let's hope they bring their B game for this one, too. Quote
hhcmatt Posted December 11, 2018 Report Posted December 11, 2018 Against Tulsa on the road young Jeriah put up 16 and 7 on them off the bench. The big loss was the Charlotte game. They had it put away and Charlotte came back at home after being down 14 with 14 to go. (it happens) cjbowbros, atskooc and Noah121 3 Quote
AuroranHusker Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 Charlotte knocking off Okie St reminds one of NU losing at MN not all that long ago. Ughh. It does happen. Hopefully NU can put away Okie St early & often! GBR !!! Quote
hhcmatt Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 This is easily the best source for info on Okie St basketball on the net https://pistolsfiringblog.com/category/hoops/ Great tidbits like Tulsa throwing a matchup zone against this young team that threw them for a loop (doubtful they have seen 1-3-1) This thread in general vs Houston was helpful in noting their issue to exploit https://pistolsfiringblog.com/five-thoughts-on-osus-63-53-loss-to-houston/ Quote

Charlotte was down three and Okie St decided to foul them so they wouldn't get the three off. They were whistled for the flagrant so Charlotte got 2 fts (which they made) and the ball. Quote

Nighthawk Posted December 13, 2018 Report Posted December 13, 2018 A friend and I were discussing this game yesterday...and were wondering what the reason is for playing it. I see that other teams (including big 10 schools) have played there before, but outside of a game what's in it for the team financially? Are they getting paid big bucks? I'd think it would it would be hard to get paid a lot given that there's only around 3500 seats in the place and tickets are not that much. It's not a home and home series...and hell if it was, I think simply from the nostalgia standpoint of the old big 8 it would sell out...just like the Kansas game. Hopefully we get these guys and ISU on the non conference home schedule in the next few years. I'd love to be able to see some of the old rivals from the Big 8 at the Vault. Quote

A recent article that was published indicated that Nebraska will receive $100,000 for playing in this game. Also the article indicated that this game came about because there was a failed attempt to arrange a home and home series against Kansas State. hhcmatt 1 Quote

This is in no way a semi-neutral site. KenPom notes that for trying to decide how much home court advantage to dole out. I think maybe a game in Omaha might get that treatment. Maybe not. NET doesn't have "semi-neutral" so it's a neutral game for the committee. hskr4life and Noah121 1 1 Quote

Why would we play in a game like this? Think about the mutual advantage. Each team has a neutral-site game against a foe they probably expected would be Q1 at the time they made the deal. Losing a Q1 game doesn't hurt; winning a Q1 game helps. A lot. So there's not a lot of downside risk to either team. Makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Nighthawk 1 Quote
