Poor Kansas State:  everyone in the entire Country, excluding Wildcat fans, has been rooting for their opponent tonight.

I’d root for almost anyone, besides Texas and Kentucky, against them.

Their players and Weber annoy the hell out of me.

Big XII with four teams in Sweet 16:

  • KU defeated a 16 seed and an 8 seed, the most difficult matchups available to a No. 1 seed.
  • Tech defeated a 14 and a 6, the most difficult matchups available to a No. 3 seed.
  • K-State defeated an 8 seed and a 16.
  • West Virginia defeated a 12 and a 13, but crushed them.

That's some good work.

ACC with four teams in Sweet 16:

  • Duke defeated a 15 and a 7.
  • Syracuse defeated an 11, a 6 and a 3.
  • FSU defeated an 8 and a 1.
  • Clemson defeated a 12 and a 4.

That's even better work.

SEC and B1G with two teams each. Big East, Mo Valley, West Coast and Mountain West each with one.

Here's another way to look at it. Only look at the performance of the Top 4 teams of all of the power conferences (by highest seeds). Here's what we get:

1. Big 12: 6-1 (86%)

2. Big Ten: 6-2 (75%)

3. ACC: 5-2 (71%)

4. SEC: 5-3 (63%)

5. Big East: 4-3 (57%)

acc looking pretty good. and this is with two of their top 3 teams getting bounced early. I'm impressed.

our old conference also doing well.

man, if MSU had found a way to grind it out, we'd be sitting pretty.

Ok.  So the Big East was supposed to be this great league and the B1G was supposed to be “down” this year.  But in the NCAA tournament the Big East has one team left — and the B1G has two.  In the NIT, the B1G team (Penn St.) beat the Big East team just now—in an away game.

And the Huskers beat this Penn St. team at home by double digits.

So . . . what we now know is that all that disrespect of the B1G—and love for the Big East—is all crap and served as a mere pretext for undoing 61 years of precedent to keep a NU out of the Tournament.

The Selection Committee and its leadership can take a flying leap!!!

Mississippi State is really putting it on Louisville right now, too.

I kind of just want to see Mississippi State win it all now. What luck we would have to lose in our first Big Ten Tournament game to the team that wins it all and then lose in the first NIT game to a team who wins that tournament. Of course it would go down that way.

The NIT field in Madison Square Gardens is now set:

#4 Penn State vs. #4 Mississippi State

#4 Western Kentucky vs. #2 Utah

Should be an entertaining one!

Nebraska played the one half of the bracket twice each. The other half nada.

An exhibition is a game that doesn't count.

So, it doesn't count.

Usually I would agree.  Both teams were at full strength and played to win.  I will count that.  Sure it won't show up in the official stats.  We still beat them.  Plus, you play every game to win.  We won.  I will stick with 2-2.
