That is a hard team to play against for us.  They just fling the ball in the area of the hoop at all kinds of different levels of bricks.  Their strength match our weakness.  We needed to play well on offense against a good defense to win this and for the most part we did.  We easily could lose this one.  Glad it is over.

It doesn't hurt to have Andy Katz telling everyone that we are an NCAA team. Good to have that idea placed out there regularly and in the heads of the committee.

Good games from James, Isaac, Glynn and Isaiah.  I believe I only saw two, maybe three shots from Anton.  Turnovers almost cost us though.  I think that was a byproduct of Rutgers, but then again, maybe we were just careless.

Biggest thing about it from a resume standpoint is that it avoids the horrid loss.   There can still be some other bad losses (illinois, iowa, rutgers) but 2 of those are at home.

Amen!  The BTN as a whole has been speaking highly of us.  But given that we are a top five team in the league, we should be in the discussion.

We should be in the discussion because we are 6-4 in the Big 10 and our four losses are...

 

@Michigan State(#6 And IMO the best team in the country)

@Purdue(#2 Team in the country)

@Ohio State(#13 one of the hottest teams in the country

@Penn State(Overtime loss to a bubble/NIT team

 

I find it laughable to hear people say we have to win out to go to the NCAA.  People say we are 0-6 against 1-50. Of course that is looked at, but there is something to be said about not having a "Bad" loss on your resume.  Also the committee is not stupid, they will take into account that Minnesota was at full strength when we beat them.  As was St. John's which will be our worst loss atthe end of the year

 

Back to those four games... 98% of the teams in the country would go 1-3 at best in those four match ups. 

 

We win 21 games before the Big 10 tournament we are in the Dance without a doubt.  No way does a committee keep this team out at 12-6 and 21-10 

 

We win 20 games before the Big 10 tournament we will need to win a game or two in the Big 10 tournament.  All depends on who we face

 

Win 19 we will be mid level NIT team

 

Win 18 we will have to win two tournament games to make a low seed in the NIT.

It all depends on how the other bubble teams shake out in the next few weeks. Right now we just can't take any chances.

I agree with what you've said here and have used the terminology "win out".  I simply used it to point out that the loss at OSU didn't mean we couldn't go dancing.  I think we finish in the Top 6 of the conference we should be in but as has been pointed out.  There are always bubble teams that make a run and lets face it, the Big 10 is down this year. Not a horrible league but down from where it's been.
