I was at the game ( missed about the first 10 minutes ), and saw Byrd break our backs and deny us a sweet comeback.  It seems like people are saying he was a jerk or something ( sorry if I missed something in other threads ) ?   What did I miss ?

Looking into the crowd, making the double 3 sign with his fingers and beating up his girl friend are reasons I don't like him.

Plus you know if he could shot a basketball, he almost most certainly would be at a fine school like Purdue.

Just  gets under my skin.

Ah thanks Silverbacked.    The girlfriend thing, seems like maybe I remember that ( last year it got some pub ? ).

I didn't see the gestures yesterday....who knows what I was watching, probably had my head in my hands crying each time.

Not crazy about that stuff in general...old school, I want our teams at NU to do it with some class.   Therefore not crazy about Ray getting in the USC guys face earlier in the year or some of our football teams defensive players strutting around after making a play.  It's all so cliche and common anymore.

I remember the first three he hit he seemed to croutch down and make some gesture towards the fans.  That that was kinda douchey.  Loved when Nebraska was shooting a free throw and a crowd was quiet a student yelled, "Bryd's a pu$$y!"  I heard that from across the way.  Made me chuckle.

I think that Duke fans once threw record albums on the court when a kid from NCST was introduced.

He had been picked up earlier in the week for stealing another dorm mates stereo system.

You young guys will need to Google what a stereo system is. :)

This is the problem with Nebraska.  While I don't think we need to be over the top about things when big plays happen, but I do think we need to have a little "swag" in our step.  We need to be a little cocky at times.  It fires the team up.  Go out and make a play and have a little arrogance.  You don't think Calipari has some arrogance?  Winners can be cocky because they can back it up.

Didn't say I don't like it when our kids did it.  Hate it when the other team does.

I hope we have guys that can make other teams fans just want to kill them.  That usually means your winning.

Nothing over the top, but just enough to make their message boards talk about it.

I still remember when Andre Smith stomped on a remote car that had run into our huddle at a game against Missouri.

The "Antlers" would drive this remote car during time outs and it ran into Andre's foot so he just smashed it to pieces.  Then went out and beat them.  I'm sure there are guys who are still pissed at Nebraska and Andre for that.  I thought it was great.

I am not sure that not being arrogant is a problem...I think confidence without arrogance reveals class.  That said, I agree that you need swag and confidence, but it is possible to have both confidence and swag without being arrogant.  Just my humble opinion.   But I look to athletes such as David Robinson, Walter Payton, Peyton Manning and many, many others who have/had confidence and swag without being arrogant.  Perhaps I am old school...but perhaps that is one of the many issues with society today that permeates our youth, that could be corrected with just a slight adjustment to the moral compass.  Winners can be classy or cocky/arrogant, it is their choice...Ouch, sorry, I just fell off of my pulpit...now back to sports.

This was my point about McDermott earlier.  Byrd isn't there skill-wise but in terms of likability of his on court presence?  Yup.

Once again....if you want to be an over-confident and/or arrogant as opposing player here, that's fine.  If you want me to sit in the stands and like it/tolerate it/think it's ok.....HELL NO.  In the future hopefully the Nebraska players can help back up that feeling.

BTW, I haven't watched him play much, but I sincerely hope that Mike Gessell is a guy who just shows up and plays as opposed to being a Byrd-like player....because THATS what I want to see for the next 4 years.

This is a really hard question. I almost wish we could get Meyers back for an encore performance for the Illinois game. That was impressive.

Not many players I don't like in this league (and that includes Mr. Leonard). This was much easier in the B12. This league just doesn't have the Bill Walkers, Beasley's, etc. that make you burn with venomous hatred.

Mostly because Big players come for the education and four years so they know not to be to much of a douchbag.

When your a 0ne and done, your mostly not always the most refined kid to begin with.

(Hope that didn't step on anybodies toes.)

Wasn't there a rubber band issue with the antlers also. And I can remember KP saying he was getting stuff thrown at him from Mizzery fans when the Huskers beat them when they where # 1

Making Mike Gesell cry might have a particular level of satisfaction attached to it as well.  And the best part of it is we have 4 years to get that one accomplished.
