  1. Top to bottom -Defensive efficiency rating. This is likely 100 points per 100 possessions or 1 PPP. Everywhere I've been the goal is <1 -Fast break points - Threes made - offensive rebounding percentage -A kill would be 3 straight stops in a row. It's been a minute but I think a common number to shoot for is 7 -Self explanatory -Dean's probably got it right here. Just a metric to measure how well they are playing their rotations - self explanatory again

I know Fred calls the help side defender the MIG - most important guy - so stops from the help side.

  3. I like Rollie, and I am not sure why he gets so much hate

  4. JL on his worst day is a better 3pt shooter than Rollie. If you're looking for a guy who can be a spot of 3pt shooter, it's JL and it's a no brainer. I think there is also a lot to be said for having experience in our system. If you think that Rollie with his size and JL with his quickness are equal defenders, then the edge goes to JL because he had two years of working in a Loesner defense. On the other hand, Rollie can get into the lane in a way that JL cannot through driving and/or booty ball. His 2pt shooting percentage and ability to get to the line reflect the advantage there. He's a better rebounder than JL. It seems like he has better instincts at the point though maybe JL would have been there after a summer. Seems like a wash from overall production and individual game matchups might dictate which one might have the advantage on a given night.

  5. I like how Jason Benetti described the game as "Greco-Roman" basketball.

Okay, here is the request. Connor posted the above image. Over his shoulder is a chart (blown up in photo 2. What do the numbers mean? I mean some "seem" obvious; such as number of 3 pointers, deflections, offensive rebounds percentage fast back points, and so forth...but are they obvious?

First of all, people (individuals) aren't making billions but rather a corporation might be. So not sure how you don't consider a free education, meals, clothes and cash each month compensation??? That is easily over $100,000 compensation for each athlete. You may not think that is alot of money but I do. Granted the university and NCAA is making alot of money off their product but the athletes have always been compensated even if it's not as much as you think it should be. So basically we really don't need a separate category for college and pro level now since they are all getting paid and there isn't any difference.

  10. JaMarcus had a good upside. I looked at his statistics from this season and it appears he has been inconsistent. That inconsistancy plagued him with us as well. I also noted a few high turnover games. It is difficult to overcome a six turnover game; but they did. Bottom line, he chose (or perhaps it was a mutual decision) to leave Nebraska for greener pastures. We needed to move on as well. I will cheer for our current roster, by and through, my biased eyes.

The pendulum has not been to far one way as the "student athletes" have always been compensated with a free education, clothes, meals, money, etc. Some of us had to pay for our education and take out student loans to pay back but athletes walk out of college with no student debt of tens (or sometimes hundreds) of thousands of dollars. Guess an education isn't considered compensation to you. It's going to stay turbulent as who is going to regulate it?? The money these kids make will just continue to grow till athletes are making more than the coaches. Not sure how you think it will settle down. It's just going to keep getting worse.

  12. I recall having a debate with Glen Potter in one of my classes about statistics and how they can either be misleading and/or they do not provide the full story. One example is there is no stat line on 'finding your man on a shot and putting your body on him,' or in short, boxing out. A second example is the pass that leads to the pass that results in an assist. There are numerous examples involving tips, picks, turnovers and so forth. The point is that just because Meah doesn't grab the rebound, doesn't necessarily mean he isn't doing his job on the boards. It may mean he is creating the opportunity for one of his teammates

  13. Some context: 24/7 sports ranked all the portal transfers from last year. Indiana had three of the top 25. And 4 total who were ranked higher than ANY of our transfers (Griffiths graded out tops ofr us at #171.) Yet we kicked their ass. Ever since we parted ways with Matt Abdelmassih, the staff have done a very good job of identifying the kinds of players they want and landing at least some of them. At this point, I don't see any reason to think that trend won't continue.

  14. From this photo one might be led to believe it was OSU that was giving it to Brice Williams. But he in fact was the one giving it to them.
