Where Are They Now? - Ryan Anderson
atskooc and 2 others reacted to MitchMcGaryMunchies for a topic
Funny story. About four years ago, I was on a business trip to visit a vendor in a small town in southern Germany, like halfway between Munich and Frankfurt. It was scheduled at the last minute and I could barely get into the small, family-run hotel which I typically stayed at. My second night at the hotel, I was arriving back to the hotel after a late night at work with my colleague from New Jersey. As we picked-up our room keys at the front desk -- you had to drop them off in a basket when you left for the day so that they'd have a key to get into your room to clean it -- my weary eyes started to gaze into the hotel restaurant. I saw a gentleman that looked a bit confused standing there, wearing what appeared to be Nebraska team-issued shorts and a t-shirt. It was Ryan Anderson! I walked-up and said hello and shook his hand, then explained how I knew him. Ryan was absolutely floored and we had a long conversation, much to the chagrin of my colleague from New Jersey haha! Ryan even ran upstairs to his room to grab me his business card, which was indeed a business card, but with his stats and contact information on it. He had just recently been signed to the local team in Germany and was trying to work on getting a more permanent spot on the team. He told me to hit him up some time and we could grab dinner or a drink together, but unfortunately I didn't have time.3 points -

Yeah I really couldn't fault the huskers for that loss. They were just on point as they always are, which unfortunately in a conference like the B10 is more common than not with a lot of our elite teams. Nice thing is, this kind of elite status seems to be fluid, with new teams entering every year. Only takes a great recruiting class or two, a good fan base (we have) and a bit of luck in the close games and you have a juggernaut in the conference. Big gain/reward in such a good conference. For example, you saw how meteoric the rises of mich a few years ago, Purdue, Iowa and Maryland were this year. It's totally possible for us, and I feel like the vibe us good here in lincoln. We're still shaking off demons of the past, but we've made a lot of progress down this road already.2 points -

I watched them play in person a couple of times, watched the few games that were televised back then, and listened to many a game on the radio with Dave Blackwell on the call. And I was both of them on the driveway shooting hoops. Lantz, Baack and Scantlebury. Leroy Chalk and Bob Grattop. Then Marvin Stewart. Loved Husker hoops ever since.2 points -
2016 SF Deshawn Corprew -> JUCO -> Texas Tech

Hopefully, such reports will be reminiscent of this Georgetown report issued shortly before Anton Gill committed to Nebraska: "Casual sources and @Hoyas247 indicate that Louisville transfer guard Anton Gill is close to committing to Georgetown, with a formal commitment possible as soon as tonight. Gill visited Georgetown over the weekend and word is that he impressed the coaching staff both on and off the court." But then again . . . the KU predictions might prove to be right for Mr. Corprew. Based on the article I read, I'm not sure Corprew has a commitable offer to KU. They're involved with still a few Top 25 type players and that might mean Deshawn has to wait until those guys decide before KU can tell him whether they'll have room.1 point -
Northwestern

Alex Olah has got to be feeling real good about things right now. They are 0-4 since his return, and the last 2 games, they have been blown out of the gym. There was a post earlier this year after they beat us that said "Are you rooting for Northwestern to make the dance". I responded with a solid "Hell NO". We are not going to be the only team that doesn't have a tourney win from a P5 school. I just don't want that title, sorry guys! So this 4 game skid makes me REAL happy!1 point -
With every game I watch, the angrier I get with our loss to them. The only thing that will get me over that loss is beating them at their place.1 point

WBB: Game #20 vs Wisconsin

Another thing worth mentioning is, during this 6 game winning streak Natalie (Iron-woman) has played 229 minutes of a possible 240 minutes. She sat out 8 minutes of the Illinois game and 3 against Purdue and played all 40 in the other 4.1 point -
Journal Star listed nearly every one of Arop's shots in the game story during his 14-for-16, 32-point night vs Papio (they missed one of his makes in the list): Dunk 2 Layup 4 Short jumper/floater 5 18-footer from baseline 1 19-footer from key 1 ?? 1 "Aguek is really coming on. He's special and every night, he gets better," said Chubick. http://journalstar.com/sports/high-school/basketball/boys/boys-basketball-arop-bests-chang-in-battle-of-husker-recruits/article_3192bbb2-08a6-508c-95c3-db0c67f10507.html1 point

This makes it officially a blown out of proportions story line. Before we won at Rutgers we lost 13 road games in a row. How much simpler is it than we didn't close against a Northwestern team who's style we don't match up well against, played a good game against a Michigan St team who we do match up on, and then beat bad teams on the road and lost to good teams at home? Fact: We haven't lost on the road since I left my red sneakers in California. Is that something that should be added on? Hope they don't 'Hurry on Back'!1 point

Okay for us really old guys do any of you remember the popcorn maker in the corner down by the court at the Colosseum? It would smell like popcorn for the whole game. Also that the concession stands where under the bleachers and that the pop came with a piece of plastic wrap rubber banded on top for a lid. Also stomping on the cups after the game to make that cool loud pop sound. Always head it on the post game shows.1 point -

Just did a little comparison of our Michigan game thread in a close frustrating loss to our neighbors here in Omaha in a close frustrating loss against Georgetown thread. Their fan base considers us to be rednecks, dumber, less classy and many other things. We know better. We know who the better people are. Jesus Christ name used improperly. Creighton 4 Nebraska 0 Players directly bashed. Creighton 9 Nebraska 2 Obscene f fbombs and other vulgarity Creighton 9 Nebraska 2 Direct Coach bashing Creighton 16 Nebraska 0. Thanks for keeping things classy over here everyone. Our board is a great representation of our great state. Creighton board is a great representation of Creighton.1 point -
How I see next years position break down with current roster and recruiting class: PG: 1. Glynn Watson 2. Bakari Evelyn SG: 1. Anton Gill 2. Tai Webster SF: 1. Andrew White 2. Isaiah Roby 3. Nick Fuller PF: 1/2 Jack McVeigh or Edward Morrow 3. Jeriah Horne C: 1 Michael Jacobson 2. Jacob Hammond - It is clear that Watson is away ahead of Bakari right now plus add in this years experience and I think it will be a substantial gap by next year. Evelyn really should have took a redshirt year this season. - I think Anton and Tai will be a great position battle. I give the nod to Anton just because Tai is proving this year that he can come off the bench and be effective and not have his ego hurt. Not saying Anton wouldn't be able to do it but since we already know Tai can I feel more comfortable with him being the sixth man. Also with Tai being a combo guard I really do not see Bakari getting a lot of minutes next year either. The guard rotation will be Watson, Tai, and Anton. This is also assuming that Miles keeps the 8-man rotation that we have seen often in his tenure - White will have the 3 spot locked down. I think Roby will play right away, even with a deeper team. I really think Roby is gonna be a huge player for the Huskers. I see Fuller being buried on the bench, but he will more than likely move back to the wing next year and will have experience on his side with it being his fourth year with the team. - The four spot is gonna be interesting next year. Morrow will be able to play his natural position which we have yet to see this year plus he will be even stronger with another year lifting weights. I still think Morrow needs to add a little bit more to his game. McVeigh will also add some much needed weight to his frame and he brings the 3 pt shot. I see Horne redshirting because he is undersized and even though his body is bigger it does not appear to be ready for the college game quite yet (haven't seen him since he committed so obviously he could be more physically developed by the time he comes to Lincoln). - I'm buying in that Michael Jacobson will grow an inch and if we are lucky two inches. He will grow into an actual center at 6'9 or 6'10 and will be bigger and stronger next year. I would not count out Hammond quite yet if he can add another 10-15 lbs this off season and, most importantly, get his confidence back he will have a shot. Potential Transfers: Bakari Evelyn, Nick Fuller, and Jacob Hammond are who I see as the most likely to transfer this off-season. There could be the surprise transfer like Tarin Smith last year. Hell, it is possible AWIII could enter the draft but i will focus on the three listed above. -Bakari Evelyn: I just do not see a lot of playing time for him. With a good off-season he could move up to 9th or 10th in the rotation and will probably see more meaningful time, but will not be a every game or crunch time player. Watson, Tai, and Anton will get the majority of the guard minutes. I do not know Evelyn personally but just going off of the current day mindset of young athletes I do not see him wanting to wait his turn. i do like his potential and hope that he stays. -Nick Fuller: Being back on the wing will help and Nick has shown some flashes earlier in his career but with White proving how good he is and with how good I anticipate Roby will be, I do not see a lot of minutes for him. However, I do not think that he will transfer just because since he redshirted already if he transferred he would have to sit out another year while exhausting his JR year of eligibility and only have one year left to play for his new school. So in the end I think he stays. Plus, it is good to have older players in the system who are not going to easily give away any playing time to the younger guys. -Jacob Hammond: I also think Hammond will ultimately stay. But I think he will consider transferring. I do not see us getting a big man that is a game changer for us unless it is a grad transfer. I'm assuming we get a big that we redshirt and develop behind and Hammond and Jacobson. Hammond will get the nod over the new freshman because of experience in games and with the system. Sorry for the long post, but I would love to hear your thoughts on my post.1 point

Michigan and 81% shooting
HolyBobpilgrimage reacted to AuroranHusker for a topic
They were 100% on their first 9 shots of the second half for a vast sum of 21 points. Pretty amazing that Nebrasketball fought back to 64-66 with 3 minutes to go (really). And, there were three distinct Michigan runs that totaled 54-16 (18-6, 21-6, & 15-4) at the beginning of the game & 2nd half as well as the end of the 2nd half. Nebraska outscored UM 52-27 for the other 25 minutes of the game!!1 point -
