  2. The overall tone of this post was negative... Frankly, I do not know why this thread was created. 1. In no way is Tim on the hot seat 2. In no way is next year a "pivotal year" 3. This year was a down year yes... and using your words "it is what it is." 4. Some kids handle that pressure better than others... we (you and I and everyone) have no clue as to how those Freshman will step up to the challenge. 5. How quickly we forget that Petteway came from a crap Texas Tech team and averaged squat when he played. Whose to say a guy that averaged about the same at Kansas won't do the same? Again... we don't know how AW3 will step up to the big stage. 6. Missing out on guys (them not committing here) are not MISTAKES. Mistakes would of been not offering or taking a big that wanted to come here. You can't force a guy to come here. 7. The Barry Collier comment speaks for itself... not true at all. 8. You try and end it with some positive, but the negatives of the post far outweigh the positive, so they didn't do anything for me. The overall tone of the piece pinched my nerve from the get go, and I fail to understand the logic that people use to say a coach is on the hot seat that took a notoriously bad basketball program to the NCAA's after one down year..... seriously? Are we being serious right now?

  3. Class of 2016 - decommitted from New Mexico. I think had a Utah offer. Seems like a guy we would want though I'm not sure he ventures this far from Arizona. Well he has an offer from Creighton so I don't even see it being worth the effort. ;-)

Probably a sage bit of advice.

Under Coach Miles the team has delivered one above expectations season, one far above expecations season (the best NU season in 2 decades), and one well below expectations season in the best conference in the country. Nowhere near enough to consider him on the hot seat or facing even a pivotal season. Certainly there have been some disappointments recently, but Coach Miles was given a 7-year contract for a reason.

  7. It's not pivotal in the sense that they need to win X number of games or else. This guy deserves a long, long rope. Something longer than what Doc and Barry had, and they didn't have short ones. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be expectations. But as long as Miles' program: - keep the arena reasonably full (10K+ average attendance/game) - graduate players (who stick around through career's end) - don't break the rules - demonstrate a an ability to adjust their recruiting strategy as needed Then I would give him 10 years, if needed, to become a consistent winner. Fact is, I don't think anyone can turn the program around if he cant.

I'll be honest, at this point in the Doc regime, I had serious doubts that he'd ever put a good roster together. That's not the case here. TM's recruiting seemingly got such a boost from last season that I think it quite likely he'll put together a big winner in the next few years, not just a one-year illusion like 2013-14. And that will allow the building to continue. Miles' resume was of a slow builder and that's what you're seeing. Osborne didn't hire the quick fix.

  9. Didn't Petteway punch a guy in a game before he came here?? He turned out ok.

  10. Wrong... Penny Hardaways circa 1993-1994 Black and White stripes al the way to the sole of the shoe with the Blue Nike swoosh. I couldn't believe my mom bought me them for my birthday. We we poor and they were $110 back then. Best Shoes ever No this is the greatest shoe ever. Two pair of socks, the inner sock against your skin was inside out somthe insides took the friction between the socks. Also Vaseline your feet every game and practice to keep down the blisters. Chuck's are cool for walking around... not so sure about the 'sole' procedure needed to hoop in 'em. but you have to remember I was at Northeast when Ed Johnson was there and that is all that the basketball players were allowed to wear.

Oh I believe that he will be granted all of those 7 years. I think that some people are jumping the gun on the warm seat so soon. Doc and Barry never made the tournament and lasted 6 years. He's got 2 more years before his butt starts to warm. Unless there is some sort of scandal or something super drastic.

  13. We have a few years to keep waiting for this guy. We are firmly in his top 5 right now. If morrow succeeds here and miles can continue to attack chicago and most importantly win some games and make it back to the tournament 2/4 times we have a chance. This guy really respects morrows thoughts and opinions.

  14. This is how I should have written the question. Which is to say that the coaches have a lot of work to do yet this spring. Wait...you said it was a simple math problem...now you want to change it up and bring algebra into the mix? Forget it, Norm, I'm out!!! (and to think I almost had the original problem worked out, too)

  16. True. Walkons are very important cogs in the wheel. But to paraphrase the late, great Josef Stalin, "The walkons? How many points have the walkons scored?" Menke scored 10 & Kurkowski 6. Their assets, though, go far beyond the final score: Toughness, will-to-succeed while counting the cost, integrity, grit, togetherness, communication, being great teammates, etc...

  18. Yeah, but I liked his tie. Respect for the situation. Tie was good. Tie with a shortsleeve dress shirt? Not so much.

  20. But Next season is the pivotal season for the Tim Miles era.... Regardless what situation we are in right now for every basketball coach in the MAJOR CONFERENCE level yr 4 in your tenure is the make or break season rather your trending up or on the hot seat in season 5. It is what it is fellas.... I have been Tim Miles guy from day one but what has happened in 13 months since the lost Baylor is really disappointing and disturbing. How have we fallen so fast??? How do you go from winning 10 out of 12 and 4th in the toughest conference in College Basketball to 13 wins "13" no way does that happen to anybody. Now were in a situation where we need to relay on 3 or 4 Freshmen to start or play 25 mins in year 4 that should never happen. WE ARE NOT KENTUCKY that's way too much pressure on those kids coming in the play that amount minutes in the BIG TEN. Plus we are hoping that AW3 produces 18-19pts per game no way once again too much pressure for a guy that has not played that much. After looking over the last three years under Miles the first two recruiting classes really hurt Miles he made several mistakes and missed out on several Bigs over the years and now it really hurting us. (Mike Edwards, Deng Deng, Isaac Haas, Akoy Agau (Twice). Lets face it guys Jacob Hammond is still not ready I really don't know if he ever will be. What I just don't understand is how with all these misses in a big man that teams like Rutgers, Penn St, Northwestern..ETC end up with decent not great big man. I would kill for the Northwestern guy or I would love to have at least one those 7ft penn st guys. Wouldn't you??? Miles has needed a true center since day one he has yet to find one. Leslee Smith (No Knees) average at best, Moses No hands no real threat at all, Vucetic never played, Ubel Average. My intention is not to bash Miles at all I am just really worried we are slipping away into Barry Collier years and the goal is NIT. I dont want that for this program. The Good news is the Recruiting class from fall signing is very exciting and alot of potential for the future and Miles has got a good staff so we move on and hope that the freshmen coming in this year Gel and do the unexpected and reach the NCAA or at least the NIT. GOOOO BIIIIG REEEEED!!!!
