  1. When I played Skyrim my dark elf got way quicker after he learned a certain new shout. Is that what you mean?

    Nicely done article

Say what you want about Barf and the OWH...but this is a nicely done article. I always like a glimpse inside the program and Coach Miles head. http://www.omaha.com/article/20131109/HUSKERS/131119907

Would I have loved to grab him? Yes. Is he a bit overrated from what I saw of him? Yes.

  6. I thought Shields showed a lot more explosion! Whoever is working with him on strength and conditioning needs some praise!

  7. Did you know that from 1959-1995, Wisconsin only had eight winning seasons? EIGHT! What changed? Well, a couple of things-They hired Dick Bennett who five years later, handed the keys to a coach who had a previous string of success at the D-III level-Bo Ryan. Two years prior to Ryan's arrival they built the Kohl Center. Since then? They have rattled off 15 straight NCAA Tourney appearances, three regular season conference titles, two conference tournament titles, one Final Four, two Elite Eights, and six Sweet 16s. That is one hell of a run. What does this all mean? Screw our elusive first tourney win, I want more. I want what Wisconsin has. If history is indicator, Wisconsin has proven that it can be done. And not to get ahead of myself, but for them, it started with parallels to our current situation. Dare to dream, right?

Half of this thread is about the sourest grapes I've seen in a while. Louisville started 0 freshmen. If he's not getting minutes by the end of the year he will be next year. If he's not by next year, Rick Pitino did us a favor.

The thing is we need to error on the side of athletic IMO. They also need to be projected to be able to shoot the ball. Miles and his staff are good talent developers. Make errors on the aggressive side is how we can best brew a monster potentially.

    Congratulations

You guys completely deserved the W last night. We came out flat, didn't execute, and settled for far to many jump shots. After watching your team last night I would not be surprised to see you guys right there for a tourney bid at the end of the year. You've got a great coach in Miles hopefully you can hold on to him better than we did with Enfield. Good Luck the rest of the season!

  13. You are as knowledgeable as they come Dean Smith so it's tough to argue your viewpoint. I am pretty high on this team. No question about it. I base my opinion on a couple of things. 1. Shavon Shieds and Tai Webster are both all Big 10 quality at their positions. I think we have barey scratched the surface of how good Tai will be. He can get into the paint any time he wants and is a capable scorer and passer. 2. The role players are really good. Athletic, long, shooters, slashers, scorers, defenders, etc. Great balance and depth. Been watching NU basketball for over 25 years and this group sees comparable to some of Nee's best teams. And it is far better than any team Doc or Collier rolled out. No question they will be up and down due to being young and inexperienced, but the talent and conidence is there. I'm not disagreeing with you. Just echoing what some others have said about tempering our reaction to the first game. You have to look to find fault with the performance last night - FT's could have been better & I would have liked to see some more post ups but what they did certainly worked. Great first night in the PBA but there might be a couple of long cold winter nights coming. I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Just saying I think the average fan gets too low & the highs create unmeetable expectations. Personally, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the season highs/lows/and all that in between.

Guy would be starting or first off bench here. I'm sure he will have an impact at some point in his career there, but I think he also missed out on being part of something special here.

  15. Creighton actually has a huge game against Howells-Dodge this upcoming Tuesday in the playoffs. I would guess most of their fans are concerned with that. I'm going to say Creighton pulls the slight upset.

  16. I concur with all these sentiments. Wow. Just, the whole deal was amazing. I got down to the Haymarket about 4 o'clock and there were already tons of fans milling around (admittedly, probably most of them were at the Women's game, but still). The whole energy around The Railyard and the whole Haymarket was astounding! I got extremely lucky and was able to park on the street in the Haymarket, so I can't speak to all that this time around. My first time in the Arena, and I must say there is nothing I'd change about it, aside from maybe turn down the P.A. system a little. Two words kept running through my mind as I walked all they way around the place -- "Game" and "Changing". Folks, this is going to do wonders for the program, the University, the city of Lincoln, and the whole state! This whole project was done about as perfectly as it could. The tailgating atmosphere before and after the game is phenomenal. At the Devaney, the experience was drive in, park, watch the game, sit in traffic, go home. But now with all there is on offer, this isn't just a game. It's a night out! Count me in as saying this is money very well spent!

  17. The concessions I purchased were reasonably priced and tasty. It will be interessting to see which concessions are around in two or three seasons. The service was fine. However, I didn't see all concessions. If the service was slow for some, it is most likely because of the start up and volunteer groups working the stands. It may take several games to weed out the ineffective volunteer groups and re-train or replace them. The inner arena, lower bowl, had great sight lines. The upper bowl most likely was a drag, but thats true of any 15k+arena. I got there early for the game, as a result I didn't have any problem parking. Paid eight bucks to park, which is reasonable. The university performed a much-needed clean up on the in-game court contests. Some of the concourses seemed tight. The tightness became more pronounced when concessions were close by. If the horse shoe on the upper bowl becomes closed the increased seating may make some, if not all, of concouses a bad, bad dream. All in all, the CenturyLink and it's surrounds are still the superior arena and location. Omaha basicaly had a blank piece of canvas when they designed the arena and the nearby area. Lincoln didn't have that advantage .

  18. Railyard experience before and after was great. Gate 25 was hopping before the game. Reminded me of the old days when there were postgame gatherings of Husker fans and you knew a zillion people: The old downtown Cliff's during the Moe era, and Barry's when Danny had it going. One beer at N Zone after the game, and the Red 1 garage was cleared out for an easy departure to east Lincoln. By the end of the season Silverbacked will have nothing on me!

  19. I agree he looked quicker, but I would say that that had less to do with improving his quickness and more to do with improved confidence.

  20. benny flashed what's going to be his trademark this season. he's going to wind up a designated defender that can score. he's too quick to not put on the court given the rules situation this year and he showed he's improved his drive to be able to finish amongst bigger players. interesting thing is what we saw tonight he showed sparks of last season, if one were willing to look.

  21. Nice win for the Huskers! I don't think Petteway will be that effective on his outside shooting every game but maybe he has improved after a year off from Tech. Too soon to tell about the team but a nice beginning. Lighten up on the Peltz criticism. He didn't do anything to hurt the team and he consistently does the dirty work, setting screens, denying cutters, picking up rebounds that often go unappreciated but are necessary for a winning team. I'm sure with Biggs and Gallegos coming back he will spend considerable time on the pines. I for one, like what he does for the team.

  23. Dooley is getting horribly out-coached. We've ran that ISO drive play from the free throw line at least 10 times this half, and it's worked every time.
