Another Sunday and another season going downhill fast.

He’s 32-76 in league play with one winning record in 5 full seasons. By comparison, Miles was 52-76 in league. Doc was 34-64. If Fred’s retained after this year, it will be because of the name, not the results. And yet Hoiberg and Miles have equal results where it matters. Not sure what that say, but it can't speak well for the program as a whole. Quote Share this comment
Report reply Busch Light 178 Posted Monday at 03:44 AM (edited) After the UCLA game, I had high hopes for this team. Crazy how it has changed so quickly. I hate talking about it because I love Fred. But….IF the bottom drops out on this season, how do you seriously bring him back if you even remotely care about Nebraska basketball? I don’t think you can. The media and a chunk of the fan base will simp for him…but what serious program is going to bring him back with that record? Report reply TourneyBound 686 Posted Monday at 04:21 AM (edited) Can someone ask Fred about this damn defense. Reporters are too damn nice!! You just can’t give up the wide open 3s we are giving up and expect them to continue missing them especially when they are good shooters. So frustrating. Brice what the heck has happened to you since Hawaii?? Only people shooting 3s should be Brice Essegian and Hoiberg. if we are gonna play shitty defense you might as well play Griffiths. sorry my rant is over. Report reply Faux Mike Peltz 1,561 Posted Monday at 04:26 AM It’s just really rough. Nobody is hurting more than the players and coaching staff. They didn’t anticipate the rails/wheels falling off. Our vibe after the UCLA game was that we should be ranked. All was well. Many on here were posting that they liked this team, a lot. But you know, you like the team until you don’t. Unfortunately, they are in a big funk and hole. Something is not right with Brice. Physically, maybe. But mentally, yes. We need major upgrades at just about every position, Mast, Connor, and Sam about the only ones that should have a spot. I think the jury is out on Berke, he has shown some flashes, but he has to be better. Our defense was lights out. We covered the three point line extremely well. I don’t know what the heck happened with our defense but they need to look at the Creighton tape and rediscover our defensive mojo. This right here. Even after the Purdue game, we had a Top 20 defense. It was Top 10 at its peak this season. Now it's Top 40 a we stand today. Sure, we've seen a drop and we need to find our way again. But our offense has been consistently bad and we're ranked around 90 ight now in offense. Our defense isn't the problem when our team scores ~7 points in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Report reply AGHANSEN 184 Posted Monday at 02:46 PM I agree with the thoughts about the offense. Our defense was decent last year because the offense fueled the defense. It's hard to play lock down defense when you can't score on offense. Quote Share this comment

Wisconsin gave us every chance to come back at the start of the 2nd half and we failed terribly to take advantage. My underrated moment was in the first half when we cut it to 3 and had the momentum. Then Brice came back in the game and had two quick lazy turnovers and a lapse on defense. It was pretty much over after that. During this losing skid he's made so many negative game changing plays. A team shouldn't be better with their best offensive player on the bench, but that's where we're at. Juwan doesn't get a pass either. A lot of talk about him missing layups, but his on-ball perimeter defense and defensive rebounding has been really bad this year (even in December). I'm not buying the injury or physical limitation theory. He still jumps high when he decides to and pushes people around when he decides to. He just doesn't decide to do those things very often this year. He's often standing straight legged on defense. busticket 1 Quote Share this comment
Report reply Huskerbballfan 29 Posted Monday at 06:49 PM Everyone on this board is so fickle. Last year after the Texas A&M game everyone was calling for more athletism and size. We get the length and size and then now we want all the 3pt shooters. I get that the team has not been playing well but every year cannot be a complete shift in philosophies. The entire point for some to ask for more size (added) and athleticism (not added) was so that we might run a defense that doesn't involve double teaming the post and scrambling on 3s regardless of opponent. We add 5-6 transfers every season and most of the size we recruited is leaving. What exactly are we committed to besides our defensive philosophy and desire to play 5 out? If we are going to play our current defense regardless of opponent, then our roster needs to look a lot more like USC with a bunch of long, athletic, AGILE dudes who can play that way all the time. And can shoot and make 3s. Mast and Berke + 9 wings / combo guards. That's assuming we think that Berke fits our self-starting culture HuscurAdam 1 Quote Share this comment
