The best that Green has looked in awhile.

Frustrating and a bit disappointing.  OSU was really struggling coming into the game and similar to the Northwestern game, we lost contact with them somewhat early, making a comeback bid nearly impossible.

Old habits are tough to break.  We missed waaaaay to many bunnies.  Defensive breakdowns resulted in a lot of open looks, which likely assisted a team that was struggling offensively to find rhythm. 

I also will throw this onto the wall to see if it will stick.  The officials let this be a physical game.  We seemed to let that bother us.

Oh well, one game closer to the next win...right?

*-Nebraska falls to 0-1 this season against ranked teams, as Ohio State was ranked No. 21 in the AP poll released Monday.
*-Thorir Thorbjarnarson set a career high with five 3-pointers, topping his previous high of four at Creighton on Dec. 7. It is the fourth time this season he has hit at least three 3-pointers in a game.
*-With five rebounds tonight, Yvan Ouedraogo has grabbed five-or-more rebounds in six of the last seven contests and 12 times this season.
*-With six assists, Cam Mack upped his season assist total of 114, which eclipses the 112 that Glynn Watson Jr. had in 36 games a year ago.  Mack now has at least five assists in eight straight games and 13 times this season.

I am loving watching this team battle while severely outmanned.  They are scratching and clawing their asses off no matter the score.  I am very proud to support this club as the cavalry is formed.

Yeah being physical isn't a strong suit for this team.

The chances of Ohio St dropping 5 straight were slim to none. As we continue to see Cam is a “special” player, & it was nice to see Jervay back in the mix. Gotta feel good about a win on Saturday, we’re IU’s cryptonite...

Well, that's the first we've witnessed Jervay play in a while.  

Admittedly, Green did play pretty well, overall.

Glad to see the guy back in the mix.

So, the best part is he earned his way back !!

Ohio State came to Lincoln last season on the heels of a 4-game losing streak, as well. Left with a dub, same as what happened this year (albeit the Buckeyes were at home).

That's what drives me crazy about Dachon Burke, he had an entire year in Lincoln to somewhat "bulk up" to be able to withstand the pounding in the Big Ten. He seems so skinny, still. It's aggravating, at times, to know he could be so much better. Just look at the progress of Glynn Watson in that regard, maybe Burkey will get there by next year !!

I was thinking the same thing. What drives me more crazy about Burke, and is very much related, is his lack of finishing at the rim. He’s quick enough to get there, but when he’s met with opposition, he just throws up what can only be described as a ‘fade away floater’ and makes it only 10% of the time. I trust Green more on offense as he has the quickness, but also more bounce and strength to be able to finish strong at the rim. Glad to see Green back. Hopefully last night was not an aberration.

Loved Glynn so this isnt a knock on him but imagine the assist numbers Mack would have put up with a supporting cast of Roby, Palmer, Copeland, and Thomas Allen

Depends on the offense we're running. With Hoiberg here you can bank on whomever we roll out at PG for a year to top the 112 that Watson had.

FT% 350 out of 353 

Fg% 283 out of 353

3pt % 175 out of 353 

it's honestly surprising we have won 7 games with those rankings.

Should have clarified. Imagine the assist numbers Mack would be putting up with that supporting staff AND Hoiberg.

A team that once again comes out flat and lifeless (not sure why this happens as often as is does)

Shooting was streaky again.  We have a couple guys that either chuck up a three which they are not making right now, or drive and have the ball swatted into the 3rd row.  That HAS to change doesn't it?

Not much to add this morning. I enjoyed this one more than many of our losses and didn't fast forward much since it was causing me to miss the exciting debates. Still, I would have preferred to watch 1917 again if given the choice. 

This team is frustrating but it’s who we are.  If our outside shots fall we can compete.  We are decent in transition when we can rebound.  It’s either layups, which last night were missed or rejected, or hitting threes.  Our shot selection on threes can be questionable.  Hold on, help is on the way. (Hey, sounds like a song by the Little River Band.

When we shoot better than 33.3% in the first half from 3, we're 3-0 in Power Conference games. 0-6 when shooting 33.3% or worse.

When the opponent shoots better than 33.3% from 3 in the first half, they're 4-0 vs NU. 

The only game we lost where we outshot the power conference opponent from 3 in the first half was at Indiana, and that was a game we easily could have won, going to OT.

This stat is probably primarily coincidence, but I do think our confidence is so fragile, if our 3s aren't falling early, we start to break down on the defensive end, taking chances for steals, or just being lazy on defense because we're hanging our heads, and it all leads to open 3s for other teams. 

Seems like if we can start well from the outside, our confidence stays high and we can hang in the contest, even though we're undermanned in most games. Start poorly from the outside, and it snowballs.

I agree with Royalfan. Regardless of whether Ohio State was on a 4 game losing streak they were still very talented.  Back in the days of Collier and Doc we would go into Kansas and get drilled 90-35. We got beat last night but not embarrassed. With the state of the program this year I will take that.  Nebraska played hard  but were not nearly talented enough to beat a team like this on the road. Just my two cents.
