I'm sure there is more to the list.  I only took a real quick look at the recruiting forum to come up with this list.

*sigh* Well...on to the next one...maybe he will be the one!

The Mike Edwards and Eli Thomas turn-downs seem more like gut punches, with the PT aplenty, there for the taking.

I would agree - although it can be very hard for a young kid to reconcile what he's being told with what he sees on the court. Not sure the team's offensive performance this year would leave any big with a warm feeling.

The big gut punch ones for me were Atewe and Elbert Robinson.  Ever since then I've become numb to the whole big man search.

But if you look at what they've done so far, it doesn't seem like we've lost out on much...

I think we need to find that underrated big man, like Jacobson and Hammond, and beef them up.  Get them some experience and hope by the time they are juniors and seniors they are adequate big men.  I still do not understand Miles' frustration with Hammond.  I don't think Hammond has played God awful this season.  He's had some bright moments, but his minutes are next to nothing.  I don't know if Miles is trying to set a fire under him.  If he just wants him to leave to open up the scholarship.  If he's struggling with academics.  I just don't get only playing him 8 minutes in 3 games.  Especially, when he played pretty good defense against Indiana, and he is the only guy on the team with height.

What, the chance to set a couple hundred ball screens each game wouldn't attract the best post recruits?   :)

Some great comments about the big man search!  We have a lot of young players so it is to be expected we need to develop chemistry.  Maybe some of that is impacting Hammond.  I too do not understand why he isn't getting more minutes out there.  We are struggling on both ends of the court.   Our offense hasn't been the same since the 2014 NCAA run.  Our defense hasn't been either.  Its obvious.

But underscoring all the current problems on the court today is the fact we just don't match up well in our conference without any size in the middle.  We are going to get slaughtered against big physical schools in the B1G.  I think this team will end of losing 10 league games this year because of this.

Coach Miles is not landing bigs (>6-8').  I love his approach with wings, athletic players to spread the floor.  But we should have landed a couple services bigs by now.  The losing will continue with the current approach.  Need to land a big guy.

Just look at the rosters of our own conference and you see all kinds of tall guys on their rosters.  Iowa has even made progress.  We have fallen behind and we are not getting the recruiting out of this coaching staff that is expected.

This search sort of reminds me of the early 80s, when we had 6-6 Terry Smith and Lenard Johnson in the middle.  Then we signed Hoppen.  I suppose we can't be so fortunate this time?

Yeah but Dave is like 50 something and has a bad knee, but you never know how much he would help.

Would this make him serviceable?

We make our own luck.  Something is going wrong.  Is it Lincoln?  Is it our fans?  Is it football?  Is it our facilities?  Is it the students?  Is it our coaches?  Is it our history?  Is it Nebraska?  Is it our scheme?  Is it our weather?  Is it a lack of dirty money?   WTH???

Was told elsewhere it is the brand of shoe and AAU coaches.

Yes, shoe money and AAU is what I call "dirty money"

Well, Nebraska actually has a lot of that shoe money.  The problem is not the lack of shoe money; it is the payor of that money.

(It should also be pointed out that there are AAU programs that are affiliated with adidas too.....)
