us or them?

injury, in trouble or just to mix it up?

Us.  Miles mentioned he might shake up the starting lineup for tonight.  My guess would be:  Watson, Webster, Shields, White & Morrow.  After the slow start we gotten off to against CU over the past few years, he might want to start with a little more offensive punch and not dig a hole that we have to crawl out of.  Sounded like it's not a done deal but just something Miles mentioned that he is considering.  Will be interesting to see if he goes with Watson or Parker tonight.

He very well could be talking about going back to the same starting lineup we used for every other game this season. I like starting Jake in this one and then figuring out my rotation as the game goes along. I'm still deathly afraid of Morrow picking up 2 fouls with 16 minutes to go in the first half.

I love me some Benny but I love him coming in and turning your point guard into a trainwreck. I think it's a great move if we start Watson and then bring in Parker when we need to.

From what I can glean, the Bluejays consider this a "must" game to keep their delusion of making the NCAA field intact. According to Miles it is important, but not crucial, for us. We have to match their intensity, which we obviously did not do last year when we all thought we would win. Hopefully our coaches will be able to amp up the motivation without letting down for the Rhode Island game. I am optimistic for a 1-1 result nevertheless. 2-0 will be gravy and 0-2 might spoil my holiday mood.

To me, the next two games set the tone to tell us if we are a NCAA (2-0), an NIT (1-1), or a no post season team (0-2).

I think that's fair.  My thought had been that if we run the tables from here on out in the non-con, we can reasonably harbor NCAA tourney aspirations.  A lot would still have to happen in the conference portion of the schedule, but this team would at least have done enough to put itself in contention and not have to overcome a bad non-con resume.  The non-con resume, at that point, would be good enough for the Huskers to at least be in the discussion.

What about 2-1 in our next 3 games?

I rewatched some of the Loyola-Creighton game, though probably the ASU one would have been better.

Not letting Hegner get set up/comfortable should be part of the plan. If he gets the ball and a little time he's going to make the right decision between taking it to the hoop or passing it to a guard to rotate around the key for an open 3.

Thomas is efficient but I think at this point you can take him away if you want to. I'm not sure whether or not that's a viable strategy. Also, he hasn't proven he can make a FT...he's the guy to hack if you need to.

Zierden, TOBY, and Huff are the guys you have to keep track of on the 3pt line. Huff is so important because he's the only one who is a viable threat to drive as well. Milliken and TOBY probably get the Huff minutes and some of the shots if he's out. Milliken is a complete wildcard...he could score 20 points or 0.

Let Mo Watson try to beat you scoring. Sag off of him and let him shoot all the 16 foot jumpers he wants. Know there will be points where you can force him into a bad turnover.

Defensively they will sag into the middle all day...almost a quasi 2-3 zone at points.  Take and make 3 pointers. Get Shields into the middle and find him...which will lead into either a drive or a wide open teammate. They're programmed to not foul...be aggressive taking it to the rim, especially when Groselle isn't there as no one else is a big shot block threat.

Overall know that no lead will be safe and that they will go on runs at points in the game. How do we counter punch? How do we stay controlled on offense without being passive? Can we keep the game close and finish at the end?

Beating a not terrible Samford team after a week of rest at home doesn't really tell me much.

For those of you going to the game, feel free to chime in when you hear me chanting "Husker-Power" from the rafters after the game is in hand and the bluebirds are finishing their last beer before heading for the exits

Also, please post what you see Huff doing during warmups, if anything.

If he plays I wonder how that injury effect his shot

It looks like Creighton will once again try to take away Shields as they had Foster emulate Shields during practice. Given he's found his shooting stroke back and he's much more aggressive that would seemingly be harder

If Huff does play, I want to see how tentative he is offensively and what his shot looks like before I overfocus on him.

I will be there right along side you in the rafters. I won't be shy yelling it and letting those jay birds have it! GBR

Let me fix your typo.  It isn't spelled b-e-e-r;  it's spelled  "$11 bloody mary garnished with a Jack LInks beef stick and a Clausen pickle spear."

Whoops. I meant... 2-1 against Creighton, Rhode Island, and Northwestern. I completely forgot about those cupcakes in between.

If Huff does play I hope Miles instructs one of our guys to karate chop down on Huff's right armn and give a little wink to the sideline after doing so.
