  1. 1. We are ...

    • there.
      10
    • a year away.
      20
    • a year away IF we find a suitable post player.
      32
    • probably two years away.
      19
    • the stars would have to align to be there within two years, so probably longer than two years.

If you need me to explain what "there" means ... <_<

In a word, it means dancing.  Getting to a level where we're not just in remote bubble discussion but where we're actually there.  There, there.

So, are we there yet?  If not, how soon will we get there?

On my pessimism/realism scale, I went way toward optimism in predicting just a year away.  And didn't even require the post player.

But don't get used to it.   ;)

I voted a year away;  if we find a post player.  In this league we need a good post player to be "top flight."

(To paraphrase Norm, "Top Flight' to me means a Lock for 'The Dance' and some tournament Wins!  ;))

(ps:  I don't know beans about basketball  )

In 2 years, we'll have ...

Srs:

C  Jake Hammond (who could easily weigh 250# by then)

F  Nick Fuller

G  Anton Gill (A Rivals top 50 high school recruit)

Jrs:

C  Michael Jacobson (who's pushing 6'9" per reports, and can shoot the 3)

F  Ed Morrow (Rivals 4 star)

F  Jack McVeigh (37.5% on treys from the longer Euro distance during Spain trip)

G  Bakari Evelyn

G  Glynn Watson (Rivals 4 star)

Sophs:

F  Isaiah Roby  (Rivals 4 star)

F  Jeriah Horne (Rivals 150 member)

Frosh:

G  Aguek Arop

To me, that lineup appears to possess plenty of talent, depth, size and experience.  For those who said the stars would have to align for us to be there in two years, I'm curious what your reasons are.

Anyone want to change their picks after watching the scrimmage tonight?

All you guys who said two years or more have some esplainin' to do.

When I posted the above, there were 47 total votes and 11 of them were for 2 years or more to make the dance.

Now, there are 48 votes and 12 for 2 years or more.

After what I saw tonight, I'm more confident than ever.

And someone who waited until now to cast a vote was obviously unmoved by the newbies' performance at the scrimmage tonight.

Personally, I was blown away.

Two years...I can hope this year, I can cheer loud for this year...but hey, trying to be real here.

In two years, Anton Gill will be a senior. Morrow, Watson, McVeigh, Jacobson and Evelyn will all be juniors. Did you mean next year?

I can certainly hope and wish and pray for this year or next year, but nope, my pea brain is saying two years.

Norm, you do it every year.

I'm sobered by CWG's posts on tonight.  If his expectations are modest....well, that is a vote for patience.

Well, HB, I don't think we're there this year. But if this group doesn't get there in year two, with all the experience they'll have by then, I think it'll mean they just aren't that good and another year after that isn't going to make a difference.

Our last NCAA tourney team was full of 2nd year players and a freshman who weren't nearly as highly touted as these recruits. This group of freshmen already have a Spain trip and a full summer more than what Shields and Parker had as freshmen.

If Shields, Parker, Webster, Rivers, Petteway and Pitchford can dance as freshman, sophomores and a junior, I don't see why 2 seasons for this group isn't enough time to coalesce into a tournament caliber team. I mean, if they can get there at all, the end of next year should be enough time to prove it.

Besides, HB, I'm a sunshine pumper. It's what I do.

And what have you done to our friend who always used to be "geeked" this time of year?

Now you just sound like a GEICO commercial, Norm!   :D

Good commercial, but I'm pretty confident that Norm would believe that Geico sucks.

Geico is just a year away, two tops.

They still need a big man.
