From part of the article:

"The Huskers announced Friday that Drake guard Kyndal Clark — the 2014 Missouri Valley player of the year who missed all but one game last season because of a knee injury — will join NU as a graduate transfer. Clark, a 5-foot-5 guard, averaged 19.3 points as a junior at Drake, hitting 116 3-pointers for the Bulldogs. That set the MVC record. Clark is also a good defender, averaging 1.91 steals in 2014 and 2.48 steals in 2013."

Yori has said she would like to get one big, and one guard.  So she got them for a year anyway.

Clark's coming off a significant injury. Article doesn't say just how recovered she is, but Yori's quote seems to indicate Clark will be ready to play.

A strong 3 shooter will be a big deal add....and obviously she's got lots of experience at the college level.

NU's future looks a lot stronger now. But will have about 6 that haven't seen the floor in a Husker Bball uniform. About half the team.

Still a young team. It will be very interesting to see how this all shakes out by next fall. Looks like we might have a pretty strong bench for a change.  We'll be a much different team than the last couple of year.

my guess:

theriot

romeo

smith

havers

shepard

once the conference schedule begins, it wouldn't surprise me at all not to see much of the senior class (except for theriot, of course). lots of options appear to be at hand. my hope is, someone really steps up and takes much of the weight off theriot's shoulders. from my view, theriot handles the court better under those circumstances. we saw it a number of times while she was playing this season---she made a number of errors that were rare then when she had previous lineups during her freshman and sophomore years. then again, you never know. maybe it won't carry over into her senior season. i noticed one announcer made similar comments during one of nebraska's games i was watching.

If Clark is healthy, I believe she has an excellent chance to be a starter with Theriot, Romeo, Havers and Shepard. Having both Clark and Romeo in at the same time will open up the middle due to the teams having to defended the 3 point shot. Add in Theroit's 3 point shooting, it could be a great season for the 3eeee.

Nebraska showed interest in her coming out of high school in Webb City, MO. but passed when they got Tee Laudermill and Brandi Jeffery to commit along with Hailie Sample and Emily Cady in 2011. If I can remember correctly K-St and Missouri also were interested and most thought she would end up at Missouri or Missouri St. Dayna Finch was the lead recruiter on her back then.

She must have shrunk since that time. I went back and looked on the old board and at one time recruiting services listed her at 5'9 another had her at 5'7. This was the hoopgurlz evaluation report on her in 2011

Kyndal Clark doesn't dazzle with athleticism on first glance, but consistent viewing shows a 5-7 guard who's always in the right place and almost always makes the right decision. She has very quick hands, is strong for her size, and is tough inside as shown by her aggression. She can also shoot the three, handle the ball, defend and dish. All this, and she's just coming off minor knee surgery (if there is such a thing).

Hope that knee thing doesn't keep popping up.

That's a fairly formidable squad, when healthy.

Who among us is brushed up on their transfer/redshirt rules?

From what I can tell Kyndal Clarke should be eligible for a medical redshirt from her season ending knee injury last season at Drake.  I'm not sure how the medical redshirt applies when a player transfers from one college to another but she missed practically all of her junior season. Can she still apply for a medical redshirt and get possibly two seasons with the Huskers? Or since she injured it at Drake is Drake the only school where she could apply for the medical redshirt? Or is the rule different with graduate transfers?

The official release from the university says she has one year to play and maybe that's all she will be granted. But with her joining the Huskers it no doubt will renew her vigor and she may want to extend her playing career a little longer should she decide she wants to play more.

From what I understand Hardship waivers are no longer granted to transfers. So that route is most likely out.

Row she missed almost all of her sr. season I believe. She was Missouri valley conf. player of the year her jr season.

She graduated from drake so she is immediately illegible to play and has one season left (since they gave her a medical redshirt for her knee injury that occurred so early in her sr. year at drake).

A VERY inexperienced one.

That makes more sense. For some reason I was thinking she was a junior last year.

If that were to happen...(and it might well be)......it will open up the inside for Havers, Shepard, and anyone else.  ...makes us even harder to defend.

Something we haven't seen for a while.

I  would think that they would want more height for the three position then 5-7 Romero or 5-5 Clark.  Look for 6-0 Smith or 6-2 Simon to eventually fill that role.

Agree HUD...

Our overall team height will be improved next year, much deeper. Will have several near the basket in the 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 & 5 range. More in numbers anyway.

We'll still see a couple under 6 footers on most teams, but the numbers continue to dwindle. The quickness/speed of smaller girls is still valuable.

Real nice mix of players for next year. As said, we look to be much, much deeper. ....yea !!!

Has anyone heard how Shepard and Theriot are coming along?? I have talked to a few girls that played against Ostrander her Senior year and said she was quiet the beast in basketball!!

I don't know if your recruited her out of high school, but here is what her bio has to say about her high school days on the hardwood. Plus I threw in what she did in track as well.Set multiple school records on the hardwood with 30 rebounds in a single game, 360 boards in a season and 994 rebounds for her career, while also setting single-game records in points (43) and blocks (15) • Was a three-time state qualifier in track and field, including the triple jump as a sophomore and the high jump as a junior and senior.http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205185489&DB_OEM_ID=100

Did Yori recruit Ostrander out of HS?

No. Had she recruited her she probably would have played basketball instead of volleyball. She didn't receive a scholarship for volleyball either, she was a walk-on to the volleyball team her freshman year.

i was going to post the same question about Shepard and Theroit. my gut tells me "no news is good news".

do not forget O has only 1 year to try and make an impact. no doubt odds are against her (in many ways). wish her all the best, but, got a big hill to climb (imo).
