Just when you need him...

Love the guys who think he is our big problem

He is part of the problem - everyone wearing white tonight is part of the problem.

True but the solution isn't to bench him like some have advocated;.  Still one of our very few playmakers, and that's what wins games

Putting him on the bench and leaving him there is not the solution, but there are times last year Miles yanked him and had conversation with him after boneheaded plays/shots and it did wonders for his play.

Again, not what the posters I am referring to were advocating.

Well if they were advocating sitting him down, having a conversation, getting him to do what you as the coach wants him to do, then I agree with them. And if he refuses to do what you as the coach wants, he sits longer until he gets the message, but I don't think you would have to do that with Petteway.

Petteway - first three a good shot, the second three is a bad shot whether it went in or not.

Completely disagree.  Who else was pacing us throughout the night to our first 35 points??

Which has nothing to do with whether that is a good shot or not. If you only focus on results you miss the majority of everything - good and bad.

Respectfully I will disagree.  On a night when we go over 9 minutes without a FG, any shot that goes in is a GOOD shot.

Which is why  if you had a team and I had a team I would want to schedule you as often as possible. Results do not determine good or bad and I've seen lots of coaches that feel they do lose a lot.

Bring it on.

I don't get everyone trying to take a stance on whether Petteway was good or bad and if he should be benched or not. What the hell? The entire team has looked like crap and people are picking on Terran? He was 6 for 10. Had a decent game for all I can tell.

Scheduling me.  Didn't know it was about you and me but you put it in those terms.

I didn't think it was even your post I was responding to. Do you have a team? If you're in as good of shape as I am it might be an ugly one on one game.

Basketball, last time I checked, was a team game.  So it's starts with the entire team.  We got out rebounded 40-22.  That's on the team, collectively.  Terran played within himself tonight and was very efficient.  We lose without him.

My point exactly.  Guy is unfairly a whipping boy on here.  He's not perfect, but on a team full of stiffs he's so far from the level of problem a bunch of folks think he is.

Petteway played within himself, he was 2-4 from three and 4-6 from the field.  And someone is suggesting coach Miles should've pulled him to have a conversation with him during overtime to discuss that second three??

"Terran had one of his best floor games of the year, I didn't see him force anything, I didn't see any crazy outbursts....Terran hit that big three in overtime, then we come down and run another action for him and he just nails it."  Tim Miles

So, we still gonna go with the yanking Terran for taking that second shot, that Coach Miles called??

Even though there is more than one right way to get things done in basketball, there is a right and wrong way to go about things. And if you think that ignoring every wrong thing that ends up well is going to lead to consistent success, well I don't believe you can believe that. The same shot at different times and situations can be both a good and a bad shot. That needs to be taught so the players and the coaches are on the same page and regardless of who it is or who it turned out, when the player digresses from the the coaches page he has to face consequences. Bob Huggins phrases it as run and sit. You don't do what I want in practices and you run. You don't do what I want in games and you sit. I believe Petteway wants to be a good teammate. I think he will do what is asked of him but you might have to offer some "reminders" as the season goes on. I don't know what your personal issue is and I really don't care. If I annoy you don't read my posts. And as coach if I found someone who felt that ignoring every wrong thing that ends up well was the right thing to do I would want to schedule them as often as i could as long as our talent was in the same ball park.

No - that conversation should have happened much earlier this season.

Thanks for posting that. I thought it was one of Petteway's better games as well overall
