Is anybody else a tad disappointed in the lack of interest we are receiving from a lot of these transfers?  Is it the lack of interest on our part or we just no there yet in terms of the Nebrasketball brand and name resonating with these guys?  I hate to be negative, but I've been slightly disappointed with the lack of recruiting push within the past few months after the success we've had.  To me, there would be no better place for a potential transfer to land as we have a tournament team that is only missing one to two key components that a lot of these guys could offer.

What we see is a fraction of the actual "recruiting push" you talk about.

And no, we have not "arrived" as a location for one-year transfers. Our coaches can do their best to sell what we just did, but other coaches will be quick to point out that it was the first time in 16 years and we subsequently got blown out. Many outsiders - and a few insiders - likely think we snuck up on some people, had a relatively simple conference schedule, and had a lucky year.

I had hoped we'd be more of a player for some of the higher-profile transfers this year. I'm not talking about the guys Michigan State, Ohio State and Arizona would want, but more some of the second-tier guys like Huff, who even has Creighton on his list, but eliminated us. After the year we had, the press we got, the accolades Miles received nationally, etc., I did feel that we'd be a hotter brand than we appear to be. This thing is going to take a long time to build, I suppose. I wasn't expecting miracles, but we're really fighting for scraps right now in the transfer market.

The transfers we appear to have a shot at are guys who were largely unsuccessful at their previous school, like Ayegba, as opposed to guys who excelled at their previous school, like Huff. That's been disappointing to watch for me.

Again, I'm not expecting miracles or an overnight change in how recruits view Nebraska, but I was expecting that we'd be a bit more successful after the great season we just had and the enhancement of the Nebraska basketball brand. That hasn't been the case, unless there's a real surprise around the corner.

If I am a kid who is transferring I am looking for more playing time and possibly a place where I am the "man".

We have our starting five coming back along with possibly the second best player in this conference here.

So if I am a 6' 5" to 6'7" foot wing Nebraska is not going to be high on my list. Which a few of these guys are.

So actually we might not be that desireable because of who we have and not who we are or are becoming.

I know one of the Nevada assistants was in town a few weeks ago. He had a connection to Jeff Smith southeast coach who was an assistant at Nebraska under nee and then coached at a school in Washington. I am not sure if he visited with Miles. I'm really surprised at all the PF's they are going after and in on right now.

It's hard to get excited about Ayegba when you look at his numbers.  He's a big body, but he did virtually nothing for an NIT team this year.

I don't think he's an impact guy in any way, shape or form, but he can definitely give us 10-15 minutes at a position of major need. For the cost of a one-year scholarship, it's nothing to sneeze at either.

Totally agree. He can give our other bigs a breather, use his fouls to keep more productive players hopefully out of foul trouble and block a shot or two would be great.

Very true, but if you are a big, and know how much in need of bigs we are I would think that we would be someone for them to take a serious look at. Definitely would see decent PT as long as they have some skills.

An interesting transfer possibility.  Tarin Smith's friend and former 3 star teammate Hallice Cooke is transferring from oregon State.  6'3'' SG that had 8, 2, and 2 as a true freshman. 41-90 from 3 pt.

Very interesting prospect Kamdy. Looks like just what we need actually. Have you seen him play. Is he quick enough to be a good on ball defender in the B1G?

Wow! Cooke looks spectacular. I assume we are just hoping he will entertain an offer from Nebraska but have no knowledge whether or not Coach Miles has talked to him. Is this correct? My fingers are crossed!

Miles absolutely needs to recruit him because if he is a 5 year player, there is a chance if we don't land him this time we could land him as a graduate transfer.  BTW, some tweets from HC

I can't tell if that is possibly his child in his twitter pic or not....but if so, that may be the reason for the transfer....to be closer to home. Obviously, if so...that means back to east coast area.
