Some have already mentioned this but my gripe is with the inconsistency in how the interior positioning is dealt with and called. Rivers got hosed on a couple of occasions. There's no adjusting to that as they are just bad bad calls. What is he supposed to do? As soon as Austin starts posting him up and starts going into him just back out of the way and allow the layup?

Did anyone see K-State get called for a technical in pre game warmups for dunking. I knew the rule existed, I just didn't think they enforced it anymore.

There is one of the problems right there....rules that are selectively enforced.

I have seen dunks in warm ups and always wondered why an administrative technical is not called...To me, the player called the Technical on himself, everyone knows you can't dunk in pre-game warmups...and if you don't your team deserves a technical because the coaches have never shared that with the team.

And if you think it is a dumb rule...that is fine, change the rule...but don't let officials selectively enforce them...that is why the game is full of players with offensive moves that are simply travelling with the ball...yet officials let it go and usually those moves lead to a defensive player getting a foul called on him....when they should have called a travel prior to the contact....

.I will always say that I could guard just about anyone one they established their pivot foot (in my youth)...but when a player got a way with a travel, my limited athletic ability did not allow me to guard them  without fouling them...but time after time, the foul was simply because they were allowed to travel.

Dayton just inbounded the ball in the corner. The Dayton player did two hops off his pivot foot. He falls out of bounds and still got a timeout. I guess that's the state of officiating nowadays.

The ref's in the Husker women's game today traveling was not enforced at all, I think two calls all day Sample had a travel that even a blind man could have called. She set her right foot as the pivot stepped with the left did a pivot stepped with the right foot and scored. that was as bad a no call that I've seen this year.

There were some ridiculous calls that went our way as well.  Not very many, but there were some.  We lost because we needed to play pretty well to win.  And we didn't.  The whole thing seemed to be a bit too big for us.  And we are one of the only teams in the tourney that have a lead guard that cannot really shoot or score.  That is tough.  It is amazing that we made the dance with a bit of a flawed team.  It goes to show what an impact the Husker fans had at home.

I agree that we were not beaten by the officials, but they must certainly not understand their role when they absolutely dominate the outcome of a contest. The fans are not there to watch the referees, and the best ones are more or less anonymous. There are times when rules should not be enforced, and some rules which should just be ignored or handled by a simple word of warning. Leaving the "coaching box" is one of them.

Exactly right about the coaching box. Wonder how this situation would've been handled differently had it been Coach K, Izzo, or Roy Williams approaching the scorers' table about a clock problem.

REF RAGE: A study of our NCAA Tournament frustrations and hatreds - SB Nation.com

http://www.sbnation.com/2014/4/8/5575738/ref-rage-basketball-referees-ncaa-tournament

We at SB Nation posted tens of thousands of comments as we watched this year's NCAA Tournament. Most were fun. Hundreds were critical of the refs. Many were posted in blind fits of fury. Here, we examine the phenomenon of "ref rage," and see who got the maddest.

(spoiler:  It's Nebraska)

Lest anyone think Husker fans are just complainers, let me suggest I think there's a strong correlation between the fans who complained the most and the fans whose coach picked up a second technical while trying in vain to signal to the oblivious officials tha the shot clock hadn't started.  Also a direct correlation between foul/freethrow disparity and complaining about refs.

And, facts are facts, Husker fans are prone to berating the officials when their efforts/calls-or-non-calls seem particularly atrotrious!
