Nebraska will really need Ray to hit some shots he has had some wide open looks. Tai could have a big game. Nebraska runs this play against zone where the PG crosses the key and drives the seam, kicking out to someone on the 3pt line, it has worked, a lot Tai got most of his fouls Wednesday night on this play.

Rebounding is key. We have given up far too many offensive boards lately. 9 to Purdue, 16 to Penn State, 9 to Michigan State, 14 to Illinois. Obviously we won all four, but that Illinois game easily could have been a loss at PBA.

Huge key for NU is defensive rebounding & contesting shots... it's been an amazing transformation from the earlier ole D.

This is a team that put up 39 points against OSU at home last week.

They flat out can't shoot which is why Kedrick Nunn and Malcolm Hill start now...because they can hit some shots.

They've had a week to prepare for us, so I would suspect they've changed up their game a bit and will put more of an emphasis on stopping Shields.

Well those to guys will improve and are freshman. Rayvonte Rice a very very good. Nebraska really needs to play it's game. This bad shooting team was up by what 9 at one point here, so that will help w motivation. I really think Ray needs to step up because I believe we will see a ton of zone. This is the lynch pin game in my eyes, a win helps push this team to further believe we can win on the road. Illinois will be favored by -2 according to rpi forecast.

This is why I believe it's going to be a game where we just need to find enough offense to win. Illinois has struggled offensively while our defense has been more than solid. I see very little chance that Illinois comes out and gets 70 points, 65 may even be a huge stretch. We just need to find enough offense to get it done. They may scheme and gameplan to take away Shields and limit Petteway (if that's possible), so like a few people have mentioned, we need to have one of those balanced scoring nights, Ray needs to hit some shots and Tai might need to find the bottom of the net a couple times.

I figure we're fine if we limit transition points and easy buckets and make the Illini prove they can shoot the ball. So get back on D, body up on missed shots, and try to get their young shooters into foul trouble as quickly as possible.

They're talking Nebrasketball over at illinoisloyalty.com  -  http://www.illinoisloyalty.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=21081

Heh, they still think Shavon "had the game of his life" against them:

"One guy blew up last time and had the game of his life.

Not THIS time!"

Most of the posters there seemed to have only a vapid understanding of Nebraska...which bodes well for the crowd being a bit smaller and perhaps a bit quieter...though it should be at least at 15k.

How much zone does Illinois actually run?

Unlike us, they have a difficult time trying to control the Izzone.

Illinois has lost 5 straight home games.

So you're saying they're due?

They played a lot like Indiana switching from man to zone. They won't let us to the rim like they did last time.

Did they not scout us the first time?

I do think that it's advantageous to run zone against us but that assumes the team can run a decent zone. Some of Nebraska's attempts to run zone this year have been disastrous

As beau Reid just said on the radio, Illinois is going to make nebraska shoot the ball, not let shields and Terran get in to paint.

Great. Then Illinois better hope they hit their shots, because if they don't, NU will beat them in transition.

I doin with their lack of success and a late weeknight game that it will be a big crowd.

Stop shields and tp....meet me. Walt.

Ray also should have a chance to have a big game. If ray can get hit we could have a fun night.
