I had a prior committment tonight that kept me from watching it live. I fired up the DVR at about 8:30. I know we had the lead at the time, but it was precarious...and I just saw on twitter what happened...I may or may not post more thoughts...fire away...

- First five minutes of the game might have been some of the stupidest basketball I've seen in a long time. Rushed, deep, just not smart, both teams.

- Liked Smith had a nice, strong move when he got in the game.

- For as bad as NU was offensively, PSU was worse...goodness this is some terrible basketball.

- Even with the concerted effort to stop Frazier and Newbill, they're going to get theirs.

- Pitchford's not your normal big man, we know that, but I like that he's not afraid to throw it down when he gets a chance.

- So, Penn St. goes 9 minutes and NU can only manage a 7 point lead...awesome...

- Webster was basically nonexistent

- I just, I don't know...this was just an uninspired effort. I was afraid of this. This is what it always is with this program...

- That runner by Frazier after the 6-0 run should have been the first clue.

- 43-37: Gallegos missed a 3, Frazier hits a runner to cut it to 4. Huge swing in the game.

- Two terribly missed threes for PSU an offensive rebound and lay in to tie it up...ugh...

- And then they went up 4 with 2:19 left and still gave it up? Good lord...

- The shot clock violation...Petteway had no idea...GAWD

- Smith MUST get that board...

- Biggs, man...

- What the hell was Pitchford thinking with that shot?

- So, they went from up four to down five in a minute and a half?

- If NU shows up with the focus and resolve they did on Monday, they win this one going away. They didn't so they didn't.

- I think I'm gonna go throw up now.

Guys year two. Tim will get it done there is a reason we needed a 7 year deal. It sucks in pissed as anyone but he had to take some chances on guys who have talent but are really selfish. Selfish poor shot selection and a lack of a post presence is a major hole. Problem is we lose some key guys each year as it goes with jucos. He will get it done in confident I just would have loved to see a win tonight and then Sunday to really get some momentum going on the recruiting front with wins to show recruits along with beautiful facility.

I feel like throwing up. Totally p*ssed off. I will be there Monday night to cheer the team on, but right now I'm just angry. Unbelievable.

Who you watching? The game is Sunday night. Just trying to lighten the mood.

So can someone tell me why Miles is going to lead us anywhere that Doc and Barry couldn't, because I'm honestly not seeing it.

I can't tell you that he's going to lead us anywhere either.  It's a scary time.  We have the best facilities and a full house of fans, but haven't turned the corner yet with recruiting or wins.

What I do see is a guy who is a master at handling the public, the press, his players.  Most games has an insightful game plan.  He deserves seven years because we don't have any better alternatives and that may well be how long it takes to get this program turned around.  So sit back and relax.  It's going to be a long ugly haul to the first division in the Big Ten.

Play Rivers and we win.  In crunch time we needed a scrappy play/defensive stop.  I'm confident Rivers would have got a rebound, steal or block just like the Ohio State game.

I hate our roster management.  It sucks.

My biggest beef as well.

Many people have been calling for Biggs to be the primary PG for some time now.  I think tonight illustrated why that probably isn't the best idea right now.  He simply cannot handle the point IMO.  He just can't handle the ball in pressure well enough, and he doesn't make good decisions in running the offense.

Biggs is an electric player who is fun to watch and definitely can be an asset to this team.  But unfortunately, he is a 6'0" shooting guard, which is very small for the 2 guard position and Miles' options in using him in games.

Mabye he can develop into an effective PG, but it is going to take time and a lot of work.  He must get much stronger with the ball and much better at decision making to get there.  Until he gets there, I think he should primarily play the 2 guard.

With that said, Tai did not do much better tonight.  We need to get better PG play, no doubt about it.

I love leslee but he reminds me of Aleks with the missed bunnies that he leaves on the table

Smith missed about 3 or 4 opportunities to get a rebound down the stretch.  He was right there, the ball was basically in his hands, and just let the PSU player take it away from him.  Frustrating b/c you would like to see that killer instinct from your veteran big guy who is 23 years old and built like a brick.  Just grab the ball man and don't let anyone take it from you!

One more thing.  I did not like the game plan at all tonight.  We were content to play SLOOOWWWW ball with PSU.  To me, that was playing right into their hands.  PSU wants to play slow and muck it up.  Why did we go there with them.  We are more athletic and we can score in transition.  Why not push the ball and get things moving.  We were atrocious in the half court.  When PSU set up its defense, it put all 5 guys in the paint and dared us to shoot.  So why not push the ball and get it into the paint before PSU could set up its defense?  Especially when PSU put on that little bunny press.  Whenever a team presses, you have to make them pay.  If you don't attack the press, you are simply allowing them to pressure you with no repercussion.  I was even more dismayed in the post game interview when Miles said he was happy that the NU players continued to play slow against the press.  Huh???

Here is the antithesis of any NCAA tournament talk from the last three days.

Miles has brought in more athletic players than we've had for the last several years and if he can continue to do so, we'll keep getting better.

Yeah, I found it odd as well.  I expected us to push them.

Play Benny less also would help

Miles love affair for Parker needs to stop. As long as guys with the talent level of Parker are getting meaningful minutes we should get use to Miles struggling in the Big ten.

Caught Davison and Pavelka talking about how he received the ball in the corner twice and didn't shoot both times.

If he's making them in practice, he should shot.  We have plenty of guys who miss shots...if he's not going to take it he's simply a liability on this team.

Agreed.  Biggs does not make good decisions.  If he did, then I think he could run the point, but he seems to be too concerned with making the highlight reel play instead of the smart play.  Tai wasn't very good tonight, but I trust him with the ball.  I can't say the same for Biggs.
