probably has to do with the talk about Zach Lavine leaving early which would leave them without a combo guard and not really be on any HS ones since they probably didnt expect him to blow up like he did.

According to the twitter machine, Trey was watching our game and Miles is going to see him tomorrow ...

Miles missing his radio show tomorrow to make this trip.  Good decision.  We will make do with the assistants.

Hopefully Miles and Co. can keep the momentum going. Nothing like getting a little face time after beating the No. 9 team in the country on their own court and being talked about as the B1G coach of the year.

The following is a blurb from a Hawkeye Rivals board interview of McCaffery dated February 14 (i.e., the day after Iowa offered a scholarship to both Dickerson and Atwood and the day after Dickerson emphasized his desire that he and Atwood be a package deal):

Q: You said after the game on Saturday that you were going to get out on the recruiting trail. Can you update us on the progress there? How do you feel about the two open scholarships and where you are at today.

McCAFFERY: I suspect that we will fill one of them or maybe two. We have some offers out on the table and there are some guys that we are looking at. I wouldn't be opposed to a transfer if that made sense to us. I think it is nice to go into the spring with two scholarships. I feel really good about what we have coming back and the two guys that we have signed. We have some flexibility. It's not like we are in panic mode. We don't have a lot of offers out. We really have very few. Most of the guys that we are offering are juniors. Do we really need to bring a guy in this year or can we wait and feel like the quality of guys that we are looking at are really good? There are times when we are looking for a guy that has a certain fit and if a guy fits, then we offer and it makes sense in recruiting the kid because this is a position that we need and a skill set that we are graduating and you can come in and help us.

Hmmmm. If I'm Dickerson, that doesn't sound like I'm an extremely high priority for the Hawkeyes. Anyone see it otherwise?

Gesell is playing very well, and McCaffray frequently praises him (and it's not like Mike needs it, so I'm pretty sure it's quite genuine vs. a motivator).  Trey and Gesell would be in the same class, and Gesell really is a point vs. a combo or 2 guard IMO.  So Trey and Iowa would seem like a strange marriage.

i think this will be one of the most interesting off seasons in quite awhile, if nebraska finish strong a lot of these prospects were in on, will actually give us a strong consideration (i.e. Bryant Crawford), but what do we do with Tai, we know the dude has a 3 point shot, and call ball, he did on the world stage, as a 18 year old, so how does one build confindence in the offseaon, when clearly that is a thing usally gained in season, is Trey a 2 guard morso than point, cuz that could work out, and keep utilizing Terran at the 3, and Shields at the 4 with a rotation of Pitchford, Smith, and Hammond fighting for center mintues, and a really deep bench for the first time in years...or does he fill the role Biggs was meant to fill the ultra sparkplug of the bench...lots of good questions right now.

Trey would be a soph and Gessell is a junior next year.

They wouldn't be in the same class, Trey has 3 years left while Gesell will be a junior.  But I agree that we have a much bigger need for a PG than Iowa right now.
