Cazzie22 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 The Biggs-Webster questions is interesting. Biggs can make plays offensively but appears, at time. to be a head case when the game doesn't go his way. I would like to see Webster be a little more aggressive offensively. I believe he took it to the basket the first or 2nd possession of the 2nd half and then hardly looked to score. Maybe, play them both at the same time moving Pettaway to the 4. I'm not the coach, I don't see them practice. Just hope they keep competing and make a good showing at Purdue. Quote
hskr4life Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Its a hard decision for a coach. You have one who beings one train to the table and the other guys brigs something different. Wouldn't mind seeing what Biggs could do as a starter... But I don't think Tai has done enough to lose that role... Just tough decisions and that's why he (Miles) makes the big bucks! Quote
Norm Peterson Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Terran also overthrew Shavon in the 2nd half on what would have been a fantastic fast-break dunk. LeBron MAY have been able to come down with that one. Maybe... The Budweiser Daredevils bouncing on trampolines might have been able to come down with that one. I don't think Lebron would have gotten a finger on it. Quote
GoBigRed Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Tai has done nothing for this team. If you think he has you are lying to yourself and still buying in to his "potential". Benny has provided sparks at times and is our best perimeter defender. Benny > Tai You're overreacting because Webster isn't the Top 50 player some called him and you expected him to be. He is still an upgrade over Benny Parker. Benny is basically worthless in the half court. Tai got into the lane numerous times last night. throwback 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 But if he would have been able to get that dunk... oh man,oh man. Quote

Benny is the teams best defender which I think is more highly valued than getting in to the lane. We have other guys who can get to the lane Quote

We have other guys who can get to the lane Biggs & Petteway are about the only other ones who get in the lane consistently now that Shields' knee is acting up. I think Benny is effective if/when the other team has a shorter PG... offensively (in transition more so) and defensively on the ball. Webster needs to adjust to the American game (and way of life in NE) as much as anything. In the past he's been The Man, and now he has to work at his academics and find his niche in a much quicker, much more athletic game than in New Zealand. I think Tai will get better the more acclimated he becomes to life & bball in the USA. Quote
FredsSlacks Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I think tomorrow is Tai's last chance to show some progress. I think Biggs will get the start against Ohio st if Tai struggles and we lose to purdue. Quote

I'm okay with Webster getting the start....but, if Webster continues to provide minimal output on the offensive end Biggs needs to be getting 25+ minutes....not 20. Quote
hhcmatt Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 We'll really see what Biggs can do today. Michigan doesn't block shots...Biggs should have been able to drive at will. Purdue blocks shots and doesn't foul a ton...if Biggs can bring it on both ends against these guys there is no doubt he should start. Quote
Stiltz Guy Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Agree on the body language, but the kid brings offense. Quote
uneblinstu Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I'd be very interested in seeing Biggs start, but it shouldn't be over Tai. Quote

I be willing to see what would happen if he did start a game ahead of Tai. I actually liked having them both on the floor at the same time. Having three guards on the floor that can get into the lane on their own now that Tai is doing more of that is a nice thing to have. They just need to finish when they get there. Tai, Biggs, Terran, Shavon, Pitchford/Smith. I want to see that lineup to start. Quote

PimpMario Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Holy crap this thread is pretty ugly. I think Biggs is better than Webster right now... BUT Biggs does cause some collateral damage with his defensive play. He brings energy and creates turnovers but he also sometimes helps the other team get easy baskets. Quote
atskooc Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 And sometimes Webster helps us get no baskets. Quote
Dean Smith Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 And sometimes Webster helps us get no baskets.Webster made mistakes just like the best players will, but overall he played well this game. Quote
