Deng Deng, Josh Cunningham? can pinder become eligible, so many questions. Quadree Smith?

Josh Cunningham is a 6-7 wing who we have not been recruiting for a long time and are out of the running for.

Do we contact Wacker with an official offer now & see if he will reconsider his verbal to Boise? Or maybe we hold scholarship #2 to the spring for a juco or a late qualifier?

I guess I'd like to see us continue to make an all-out effort to get a 2nd signee in November, because roster turnover may very well free up another scholarship or two for the spring period. But you don't want to throw that 2nd scholarship in November at just anyone, so it's a fine line - still have to be picky

I'll leave answering this question up to the coaches.  They will have decided if they even want to try to use the remaining scholarship for November or see if someone develops during the season to sign in the spring.  There's simply no way for us to answer this question at this point.  Unless you're a deep, deep insider.

I think Deng is ours if we want him. But not sure we need a JUCO in this class with only one senior graduating.

I'm hoping Harriman can pull a rabbit out of his hat from somewhere.

i think we go the later route....we seem to be in on a lot forgin connects this off season, we have to land one...id rather have Pinder but i have my doubts if he can qualify...Ive we scoured Africa yet....doesn't Dikembe have a son or possibly some relatives in Congo?

Miles is close to the Wacker family, so it wouldn't surprise me if we could get him to change his verbal.

not what i was wanting to see

I think it would make more sense to go after a pg next year.

I think Wacker is perfect for Boise.  The staff needs to wait it out and see what unfolds.  Theres plenty of Sai Tummala kids that blossom every winter that we need to get in on and having at least 1 scholarship open to get them is imperative.

Maybe Akoy will decide to come home in December.

Are you Pavelka?  :D

Seriously though, I think that ship has sailed.  I suppose he could want out eventually, but it isn't happening after one semester.  I suspect he'll probably redshirt this year to put on weight and Pitino will see where he is after that.

Many of my fellow Creighton fans thought that Eliason would eventually end up at Creighton too.  It turns out he'll graduate from Minnesota this year, even after a coaching change.  I suppose that it worked out in that we never would have gotten Echenique if EE came to Creighton out of HS. The point though is that these kids, once gone, rarely return here.

Personally I think I'd rather have Gessell (sp?) than Agau.  Agau has some Jadaveon Clowney-like issues...

I will be very disappointed if we only sign one recruit in November.  As we have discussed, this staff could sign 2 or even 3 recruits in November and still make room for another signee in April.  There is always turnover in a roster, that should be expected and planned for.  Not to mention there are a few spots on the current roster that need to be upgraded, and that is just the truth.

It is nice to see us be in on the big boy right to the end, but at some point we need to actually land the big boy, and then another.  Teams like Mich. St., Ohio St., Indiana, etc, are not standing still and waiting for us.  With that said, I am not writing off the November signing period yet.  As has been mentioned, Miles and staff seem to constantly working the recruiting trail, so hopefully there is a quality prospect out there that they are in on and we just don't know about it yet.  Hopefully.

Why do we HAVE to take someone just to take someone though?  Theres no major players currently in the fold for NU so it would be plan c-d guys that we could still get in April.

I share the concern that we have to have a baseline quality standard below which we'll simply be prepared to bank scholarships for the next year instead of filling them with subpar prospects.

I feel that it will be difficult for us to find a quality prospect on short notice who would be willing to sign in November, unless maybe Deng accelerates his process. My feeling is that Hammond will be the only early period signee.

I didn't say we have to take one, and I agree that Miles should not take a c-d type of guy just to fill a spot.  I just said that I will be disappointed if we don't sign at least 2 players in November.  I should have qualifed that by saying that I will be disappointed if we don't sign 2 quality recruits in November.  This is year 2 for Miles.  He has been here for over 18 months now.  He has a brand new arena and a brand new practice facility to sell.   So yes, I will be disappointed if he can't pull in at least 2 quality recruits in November.  Not saying I don't like or believe in Miles, or I don't think he can or will get it done, just saying I will be a bit disappointed.  It is tough and rare to sign a quality freshman recruit in April.  Usually that is a time for jucos.  I would much rather sign a quality freshman than a juco at this point.  Besides, as I said, if we could sign a quality freshman in November, we could still easily make room to sign a juco or other recruit in April.

But again, as I said above, there is still time and I am still holding out hope for another QUALITY recruit.  I will actually be even more disappointed if Miles signs a c-d type recruit just to fill the spot.  Better to have him hold it than give it to another Doc/Collier type recruit.

Whoa, Nellie!

We lost a four star recruit to an SEC team. Not the end of the world.

Tim Miles & Co. have a thorough list of players they've been developing as potential recruits and, according to public comments, have a thoroughly developed set of priorities on who to pursue and a strategy for doing so. Moreover, there are always Tim Miles surprises out there, such as Colton Iverson at CSU (drafted by the Celtics) and Walter Pitchford. Unfortunately, the coaches rarely explain their priorities or strategies to the public, so we are left with our speculations and uneducated guesses that keep message boards like this in high demand.

Perhaps we should simply enjoy the ride . . . but speculating and guessing and fretting and stewing are a heck-of-a-lot more fun and entertaining. But some of the posts above seem a bit too close to the ledge for our current reality.

It's always possible we pick up another transfer like Pitchford at the end of the year. We don't graduate any of our post players and we add Hammond, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if we added another quality transfer who has to sit out a year.
