Swan88 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Robin Washut has a twitter picture posted in the Husker script thread on the main board of Robinson standing next to Pitchford and towering over him. Or, you could check out this picture posted on the prior page of this thread: Quote
colhusker Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 His AAU coach told the Scout folks that that he and Elbert had thoughts in there heads before they got to Lincoln, said they were all wrong and they were very impressed. Quote
kldm64 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 I'm worried about Georgetown. That's a good school with a tradition of putting big guys into the NBA. It doesn't matter where you play college ball, if your good enough, you'll make it to the NBA. It's not like we have never had an NBA player before. I like our chances with this kid and appreciate Miles and staff swinging for the fences with recruits like this no matter what he decides to do. It's just a matter of time till we start signing kids like this. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 I'd say it looks like he's having a good time. Quote
aphilso1 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Sounds like the Hoyas also believe they are in the lead, and view SMU as their greatest threat. Interesting that they don't think Robinson has any real interest in Nebraska. Hope to prove them wrong! http://www.casualhoya.com/2013/9/3/4689558/elbert-robinson-georgetown-hoyas-recruiting Quote

Hope to prove them wrong! http://www.casualhoya.com/2013/9/3/4689558/elbert-robinson-georgetown-hoyas-recruiting The only thing with this is that it was posted before he even came here for a visit. Granted that may not mean anything and he could end up at Gtown, but I like the feel of how things went this past weekend to put us first in line before his official at gtown in October (my probable visit guess) Quote
Swan88 Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Win or lose on the Elbert Robinson sweepstakes, the reality of the visit and the substance of the Rivals interview provide an unmistakable and unequivocal measurement of the progress Nebrasketball is making on the recruiting circuit. Consider this: 1. When was the last time a recruit ranked this highly (i) made a visit here, and (ii) left with rave reviews? 2. When was the last time any recruit (i) made an official visited here, and (ii) then left for further official visits to the likes of Ohio St. and Georgetown? 3. When was the last time a fan on a message board of the likes of either Ohio St. or Georgetown describes a Husker Rivals article on a recruiting visit as "a very disturbing read" and then nervously attempts the "enjoying his official trips" and "saying the right things" dismissive? 4. When was the last time Nebrasketball had a legitimate chance in one year to sign both (i) an ESPN 4-Star / Rivals 150 recruit (Hammond), and (ii) an ESPN 4-Star / Rivals 4-Star recruit (Robinson)? It seems that the answer to all four questions is probably, "Never!" hhcmatt and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Hammond is the kid who kind of seems to be lost in the shuffle because he already is coming. I keep forgetting that he is really good and coming here. Quote

It seems that the answer to all four questions is probably, "Never!" Not to mention Walter Pitchford, Terran Petteway, Nathan Hawkins and Nick Fuller, all Rivals/ESPN 3* are already here, and so is Tai Webster who, if he had played HS ball in the US would be a likely 4* Add: Shavon Shields (Rivals 3*, ESPN 2*) David Rivers (Rivals 3*, ESPN 3*) Benny Parker (Rivals 3*, ESPN 1*) Guys, that's at least 9 players (counting Webster) that are either Rivals 3 or 4 star recruits on the Husker roster. But wait there's more! Deverell Biggs was only a Juco All-American... Yeah. I think you could definitely say this program is on the upswing. Quote
49r Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 ...and my point, I guess, is that if Robinson came here, it's not like he should be expected to carry the team on his shoulders. He'd have enough talent around him that he would have the pieces here already in place to take us to the next level! Now, that's a good feeling, IMO. Quote

Obviously, the coaches had, if not bigger, then certainly better fish to fry. Quote
HuskerCager Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Well, I guess our program still has a long ways to go before it earns the respect of it's conference peers, recruiting wise. According to this Buckeye blog, the only "real" competition the Buckeyes have for Robinson's services are Georgetown and Louisville.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1766456-ohio-state-basketball-recruiting-buckeyes-biggest-competition-for-2014-targetsI must say, I think our luck with Robinson is going to center on where other centers go. Let's hope players like Myles Turner or Okafor end up at places like Louisville, OSU or Georgetown. Quote

Okafor is an extreme longshot to end up at OSU but Matta has been pressing hard for Goodluck Okonoboh. Georgetown is rumored to be in the mix for Paul White, not a center, but Georgetowns class is about as full as it can get already. Quote

I kind of thought that Atewe was just getting his thrills off the whole "drama" and never really planned to be in Lincoln... oh well for him, look at what he's missing out on with Timmy Miles & Co.!!
