Bracketology 2024/2025

I’ve been seeing posts pop up on Twitter and quite a few have a beautiful red N on them. So thought I’d get the thread going early.

I think if we beat Murray St (fringe q2) Hawaii (will count as road win) and then OSU or Loyola (should be quad 2)...that would be a dream scenario for what our non conference schedule was and should put us in great position for a bid if take care of business at home in conference.

A projected 9 seed on Torvik. That goes up to an 8 seed if we win today, and little downward movement if we lose.

I should have said "little downward movement if we lose by a respectable margin." After today, our NET will tank. We are now the eighth team out on Torvik.

Lunardi still has the Huskers in a decent spot given how awful we played on Satruday.

He has 11 Big Ten teams making the dance. Wow.
 

If the Huskers can finish the non con 10-1 and win 8-9 conference games, that might be enough to make the dance.

Nearly every Big Ten game will be a Quad 1 or Quad 2 opportunity.

The next best game on Friday is probably SDSU @ Colorado. We’re also the only game on regular TV. So it’s safe to say there’ll probably be a lot of eyes on our game. Big one for the Huskers.

I don’t see a tournament team based on the performance against Sparty.  If we are to be a factor in this league then Friday night needs to be a victory.

Nope-- but I did see one in that performance against Creighton and probably St. Mary's as well. So which team shows up to each game? We can't be that inconsistent team who plays well one night and terrible the next. That's not going to get it done. We're going to need to be the CU/St. Mary's team much more than the Sparty team.

There were a whole lot of games last year we did not look like a tourney team as well. Long way to go and I’m sure many more highs and lows

One of the (many) problems with Lunardi is that you never know what his bracket is supposed to be. A forecast of where everybody ends up? A picture of where they are now? A mix of the two? 

 

I prefer Torvik bracketology at this point in the season:

It plays out the remainder of the season (based on his ratings) and then ranks the resumes. He shows us 9th out, but we're carrying the weight of the MSU loss in our ranking, which can be overcome. Right now, Torvik has us finishing 16-13 and 9-11 in the BIG, which is setting the bar pretty low.

I think a lot of people believe we will win all 3 games in Hawaii, which will be tough.  I think we can beat all the teams in the tournament, but because it is a tournament it will be more difficult than if those games were spread out like in the regular season.

Knowing this still has to add two more games in Hawaii, 18-13 has us fighting for something in the Big 10 tournament.  16-15 has us just fighting about how the season went.

Agreed, until we actually win a tournament like this I am not counting us to go 3-0.  Id be happy with 2-1 but 3-0 should be the goal.

To piggy back - with how wildly inconsistent this team has been for anyone chalking up 3 wins in such a short amount of time is crazy. Especially after seeing the last games debacle.

I didn't see a tournament team last year based on Creighton, at Minnesota, at Iowa or at Maryland. It still happened though. It's a long season. 

 

I still believe in this team but we really need to defend our home court all season, do very well in Hawaii (at least 2-1 with the loss not being to a crap team), and pick up a couple more road wins than we did last year.

We will need to go at minimum 8-2 at home in conference, which is doable.

Hopefully that is where having depth and playing 10-11 guys helps

Rutgers: Needs a last second three to hold off an under .500 Seton Hall team, loses every big game they have had, lost to Kennesaw St, but does beat a ok Penn State by 4….
