Gavin has given us good minutes today.  Now, needs to make some shots and get some confidence. 

Gavin— to me— screams one of those guys from our past who seems to completely grow as he matures in our system.
 

The nice thing is that usually we would need those guys to be “the man” NOW. This year, we can let him grow into his role and not have to force him to do too much. I hope he sticks around.

I feel he has a Connor game in him against USD. When that happens he is going to take off.

Yep, I was a bit off. Here's the 100+ games (including opponents) between Mississippi Valley State (2018) and today:

 

2018-19: W 106-37 Mississippi Valley State

2019-20: L 75-107 Minnesota

2020-21: W 102-55 McNeese State

2020-21: W 110-64 Doane

2020-21: L 64-102 Iowa

2021-22: L 4OT 100-104 NC State

This a 1,000 times yes. 
I dint think he got that great of coaching last year. 
He’ll his own teammates wouldn’t give him the ball during the games I saw them play last year

Gavin and essential have a few years in this system, Connor is embracing it and thriving and GG will figure it out but he’s slowly getting there and it’s okay.  His pure athleticism will come through eventually but I feel like he’s finding his place a bit. But I really love how all the guys that we have brought in are starting to figure out their rolls and playing hard, especially on defense.

That was our NET ranking at the end of last season. This year's first NET rankings haven't come out yet. Probably will within the next week.

Winning by big margins in non-conference contests certainly do help the metrics.

This was what worried me as well. We needed a 3rd. Wasn't all that confident we had one. We do!

Nebraska still needs to be as diverse as possible in its scoring. Big Ten teams will try to lock up Essegian. Next Saturday will be interesting to see what happens. Having Berke would be helpful for both scoring and on the boards. GBR

Agreed. But I was pretty certain we had some good role players and two dudes that could score consistently. But we needed that third. Well if we were to have hopes for a second postseason anyway. 

And nothing seems flukey about it. Aaaaaaand it's entirely possible someone turns into a forth

That's why I mentioned Berke, I think he can be that 4th scorer who can consistently perform at a high level. It will be fun to watch how this team develops over the course of the season. I even still have some hopes for Gavin to help at some point, especially with Essegian drawing the focus of the defensive game plan in the B1G. This team can have a high ceiling with continual progress. GBR
