How did Purdue not know about this guy?

At 7 feet, 9 inches, Olivier Rioux is the world’s tallest teen and an intriguing basketball project

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Walking from his apartment to classes and then to the University of Florida’s basketball facility, Olivier Rioux poses for dozens — sometimes hundreds — of pictures a day.

Vertical shots, of course. Rioux won’t fit in the frame any other way.

At 7 feet, 9 inches (2.4 meters), Rioux is the ultimate BMOC. He’s actually the Biggest Man On Campus — any campus.

The Florida freshman, a happy-go-lucky Canadian who owns a spot in the Guinness record book as the world’s tallest teenager, also will make basketball history when he plays for the 21st-ranked Gators this season. The cheerful guy known as “Oli” will become the tallest to play college hoops, supplanting 7-foot-7 Kenny George of UNC Asheville (2006-08).

Nice win for Ohio State last night. They shot the lights out - 14/28 from the arc. That won't be normal for them. Texas is also overrated, as usual. Any team with Arthur Kaluma as a focal point is going to underwhelm.

William Kyle might not be in the rotation this year for UCLA. Played 3 minutes in the first half, then 7 or 8 minutes in the second half (mostly in mop-up duty). Same as their exhibition game. Bummer for him. Would've loved to have him in Lincoln. Maybe next year...

Michigan State beat Niagara 96-60.  Frankie Fidler (B West, UNO) started and had 11 pts and 4 rbs in 18 minutes.  State looks solid and played well together but might lack that one go to guy.

The game went about 15 minutes into the start of the Husker VB game against Oregon and my wife was complaining.  I told her this is what it is like being a Husker basketball fan for about every TV game!

UCLA is the first Big Ten team to lose a basketball game this season.  New Mexico beat 'em 72-64, neutral court.

UCLA lost to New Mexico, Northwestern to Dayton, Washington to Nevada, and Minny snuck one out vs Omaha today… throw us into the mix and it could be a long year for the B1G.

A non con game I'm watching closely now is north Florida. They beat South Carolina first game of the year and are hanging in with GT. Nate Lliteras, former Nebraska HS kid, is a starter and putting up double digits. They look to be a great shooting team, making over 10 a game in their first two matchups. We'll see how this one turns out, but they have Georgia before they come to Lincoln too.

Another power conference road win for North Florida. They won 105-93. They play at Georgia on Tuesday.

Halftime score:

Bluebirds 50

Fairly Ridiculous 34

Kalkbrenner with 15 on 6-of-7 from the field, including a 3-pointer.

CU 26-8 run to end the first half turned a two-point deficit into a 16-point lead.

Birds wearing their Carolina blues.

Fast-paced game. FDU incapable of and/or unwilling to slow down CU.

They also start a 6' 8" guy at the five. They have a 6' 10" sophomore, however he has zero rebounds on the season and has taken four-of-six shots outside of the perimeter.

Thus far, the team's leading rebounder is a 6' 3" guard. He needs to start throwing himself some Tracy McGrady off-the-backboard passes so he can lead in assists too.

Brown would only need to average 1.5 more assists a game to lead the team, lol.
