Not saying they weren't elite shooters, but each team now tends to have several elite shooters. I grew up on 90s basketball, so I'm not ignorant to great players from past eras!

I was at the game the other night, and energy was very lacking in the first half. Found a way though. Thank you CJ for backpacking in the first half. 

 

-one thing that stood out to me was diop not getting minutes in the second half. I'm not sure if it was discussed, but his minutes were not SUPER impressive in the first half. Got beat on box outs and got attacked a bit on defense. That's a team a guy with his athleticism should be able to do very well against, but his head may have been out of it due to Christmas break. Notable though imo.

-allick first half vs second half was such a stark difference. First half he was playing hard, but out of control. Second half, he was able to find control and find his spots. One thing about allick I've noticed so far is he will play 1000 mph no matter what, and that can be a detriment or good. Just depends if he can reign in the control.

-very very happy to see Lawrence see some shots go down. He needed to get going a bit. I love the way he pushes the pace still and some of the passes he makes in the half court, he just needs to find his footing consistently at the PG spot. 

 

I liked omot for ND quite a bit. Think he could definitely play at the HM level. His jumper could use some work and he would need to get up to 200 lbs to make it work, but the talent is there. SC State should be a easier game I *hope*. IU is currently struggling very hard and they cannot shoot. Should be able to take care of that, but the 4/5 battle on both ends will be fun to watch.

I admit to age bias,  everyone thinks the music and sports were better in their day. The league used to be 23 teams. We are now at 30. That’s over an extra 100 slots.   From my perspective I see players that start or are big rotation players from championship teams today that wouldn’t be good enough to even be on a team in a 23 team league.

Rule changes.  It basically made the NBA unwatchable.  150-140 isn't fun.  I'm at a point where they should get rid of the three point line or move it in so defenses aren't so spread out.

I watch the NBA. I very much appreciate watching the sheer athleticism on display every night. Same with the NFL for me. Watching those athletes in space is fantastic. I think players are getting so much stronger and faster I could see the next big change in the game will be the court size. They made the lane wider, next is the whole court. I can’t stand the iso-ball where four guys stand on one half the court to let a one vs. one happen. When an NBA offense is clicking it’s so fun to watch and it’s all about space, angles and movement. I say give them more space to do their thing.

There may be seven more teams, but the game is global now. There is so much more talent in the league from Europe, Asia, and Africa that it easily makes up for an extra 7 teams. I watched the league's heyday in the 80s through the Jordan era of the 90s and there is *no* comparison to the talent and athleticism in today's NBA. None. Zero.

 

Now, I'm not a big fan of the way the NBA game is currently played and officiated, but I couldn't be more impressed with the sheer talent on display in that league.

That was my comment earlier - it’s all subjective. Whether people want to admit it or not there is no way of really “proving” anything.

When he was on that heater his role on his offense was known throughout the team: get the ball to Keisei. What is his role now?

Keisei  takes some cringe worthy shots but he makes some of them.  I wish we could be more effective hitting him on hard cuts to the basket.  Gary has certainly improved his outside shot.

As a team, we take a lot of cringe worthy shots.  I personally feel much more confident when Keisei is taking them.

I'm looking forward to seeing more actions involving Keisei and Mast as the season goes on.
