That is puzzling, since St. Thomas is the only other D1 program in a state of 5.7 million with multiple Fortune 500 companies. It's also bizarre that they can't keep any talent home. In the past 5 years they've lost lottery picks Jalen Suggs and Chet Holmgren to Gonzaga, plus Paige Bueckers to UConn.

And we had a cow over losing Elliott Eliason!

It’s quite puzzling. If Minnesota could keep the best players in just the twin cities, nevermind the rest of the state, they’d finish in the top 1/4 of the new Big Ten most years. Before NIL they were a coach that could recruit away from being a top tier Big Ten program. I don’t know what their NIL is like but it seems to be making it harder for them to keep local talent, so it must not be great.

It would be cool to meet you. Do you have an idea what your schedule will be?

Not me, the news about Minnesota having bad NIL lol

Now I'm really confused, what in heck happened there. How did I get that notification?

This is way too funny! @LincecumFan, if you can navigate your way through this, send me a personal message with your name and address and I'll get some jerky sent your way.  You made my day!

Yeah, being so new to HHC I guess I just learned something. To say I am completely embarrassed is the understatement of the day.  🤦‍♂️

Minnesota has had the most odd collection of college basketball coaches over a 40-year period. Football too, tbh.

Pitino’s son

Tubby smith

Clem Haskins- was great except for the cheating

Nebraska great Jim Molinari

The Sports Pecking Order in that State is:
1. Vikings
2. Vikings
3. Vikings
4. Twins
5. Gopher Hockey
Everything Else

You forgot the Minnesota wild.

In all honesty in terms of popularity it’s probably something like:

1. Vikings
2. Wild
3. twins
4. Timberwolves
5. Gophers hockey
6. Gophers football
7. Gophers basketball or Minnesota United

Tons of money in Mn but target/Best Buy/ UHG usually pick the pro sports teams and gophers get secondary. Very few people up here are passionate about college sports.

Ben Johnson is a local guy too. Losing Hawkins and Christie is really tough because he has struggled to recruit Mn

The Reason PJ cancelled the Spring Game is because he didn’t want people to see that EMPTY Stadium on TV.

And I’d be Remiss if I didn’t say R.I.P Al Shaver. I’m assuming you’re old enough to remember the 5OT Duluth East/Apple Valley game in ‘96. Before the 5th Period Al said, “You Better Crack Open another One, I know I’m going too”…

I’m a transplant up here, but this pecking order would explain why they let “row the boat” be printed on everything, even though the guy who brought it here would be gone with the first good offer.

The Timberwolves deserve more love than that. They're having a terrific season - probably the best since Kevin Garnett was there.

And what about the Lynx?

All Valid Points, I’d actually say the Wolves might be the “Favorites” to Win the whole thing. But the Vikings Shadow is LONG & relentless.

Timberwolves have been bad for so long that I think that hurt. I would argue they might be a slightly bigger draw than the Twins but I went more on history.

They have been very popular this last 2 years.

The lynx are not on the list. I almost included our MLS team- Minnesota United and they would be slightly behind gophers basketball.
