In fairness, there's a 6-4 guy on the list who was trying like hell to get to 6-5. It just hasn't happened for him yet. Maybe it will. He still has hope.

Hmmm, see what you are getting at. Idk, I always liked his game. It's really good having a foothold in that state and that city. I think there may be a time for opening it up, but for now we should see how the rest of his summer goes.

We're not casting a wide net of 2020 offers if we're only looking to add 1 more player. Those offers represent point guards, wings and bigs. We're in on some damn good players. I agree with you, but his weakest area is something our new coach wants as a strength.

One thing that crossed my mind when thinking about Hoibergs high school recruiting is how much of it is gauged towards the future transfer market?

 

And what i mean by that is how many of these 2020 kids is he just trying to build a relationship with and get his foot in the door for when they transfer in 2021 or 2022?

 

I would guess that an ideal number of scholarships to be filling every year is 3 to 5. Which means if we are hitting that 2-3 RS transfer mark most years we are only bringing in a couple high school recruits every year.

I had wondered the same thing, my man. Seems like a smart strategy. Even if you miss out on them out of HS, you've got relationships established for when they decided to transfer a year or two from now.

Regarding Branson, we were likely offering a package deal for him and C Davion Bradford, who committed to KSU.  Not sure we want Branson w/o the big, but he’s kind of like a Thor with range.  Nicely skilled player with zero athleticism.

My guess is the now two open schollies we have will go to sit out transfers. Remember, Hoiberg likes to have two or three per year.

 

Depth wise we are looking pretty good.

- Back court: Cam Mack, Dachon Burke, Jervay Green, Charlie Easley

- Wings: Thorir Thorbjarnarson, Teddy Allen, Shamiel Stevenson, Dalano Banton (not really sure where to put him lol)

- Front court: Yvan Ouedraogo, Kevin Cross, Derrick Walker, Akol Arop

If I’m a high school player that’s planning to graduate in 2021. What will my impression be of the Nebraska program if they use all (Or most) of their available scholies on juco and sit-out transfers? I agree our depth for next year looks promising and I have no doubt Fred at Coach A will find some good transfers sitting on someone else’s bench. However, I have concerns if we’ll be able to build long term trust and relationships with high school players and coaches. Especially in this environment where Nebraska high school basketball seems to being going through a bit of a renaissance. We can’t use the excuse that the cupboard is bare in our neck of the woods.

Well first, looking at the 2021 class there is going to be three schollies open plus whatever attrition occurs or the possibility (however slim it may be) that Mack, Banton, or Allen could go pro. I think we are looking at about a 5 player class for 2021.

 

Second, I dont think Hoiberg builds rosters the traditional way. He is going to go get the players he wants and I honestly think he prefers the redshirt transfers bc he gets a whole year to coach em up and transform their bodies. But he has also has proof that he can grab HS talent, coach em up, and send em to the NBA. I just dont think it will be that big of an issue personally.

I was in October.  He came into the season in way better shape than last year.  Much more bounce than last season.  I still don’t consider him a specimen, but his athleticism is fine now that he can shoot.  He’s always been skilled.
