I'll gladly watch a late night, being in the winner's bracket is a huge RPI boost in the early season. GBR Quote

throwback Posted November 25, 2016 Author Report Posted November 25, 2016 As Coach Miles put it, we're in the big boy side of the bracket now - it's almost like being promoted to the grown-ups table at Thanksgiving dinner. Dayton can sit at the card table on the folding chair. And no ESPN3 games now! AuroranHusker Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 Solid 3rd place matchup between the Huskers and Hokies. NU needs to go 2-1 this weekend to be considered a successful tourney. Third in this field is a fairly good result when you're facing as many potential NCAA-type tourney teams as possible. Quote

Virginia Tech is a good measuring stick. Not a great team, but definitely a good resume win on a neutral court. Added benefit: Great game if you love screaming at the opposing coach, he's a complete tool. Quote

throwback Posted November 26, 2016 Author Report Posted November 26, 2016 Back to back games coming up vs ACC teams - not sure that's ever happened before. Hope NU's players don't ride the tea cups too many times at Disneyland today. That can really mess with your equilibrium. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

That's Buzz Peterson, who also coached at UNC after Bill Guthridge. HuskerFever Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 Can I just step back for a moment and mention, even before the result of this game against VaTech, that I'm really happy to see how our team has played in this tournament. We look like a different team than we did the last couple of years. And it's worth mentioning that we made it difficult or a Top 15 team to play their normal style of offense and held them to season lows in many different categories. Sure, there's a shade of rose in these sunglasses, but we haven't boded this well in most early-season tournaments in the past. Red Don, hhcmatt, Silverbacked1 and 1 other 4 Quote
Red Don Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 ESPN seems to be showing the Husker - VA Tech Game starts @ 3:00 pm CST (1:00 pm PST) instead of 3:30 pm. (Don't want anybody to inadvertently miss part of the game! ) http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/scoreboard/_/group/50/date/20161127 hhcmatt 1 Quote

Given that they need 30 minutes between games, I imagine the start will be 3:30 p.m. CT/1:30 p.m. PT. But you're right, that's the listing as of now. As long as all games are in the Honda Center (and they are), a 3 p.m. CT start seems unlikely. Red Don 1 Quote
Red Don Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Point is to set your dvr's and 'stay tuned' so as not to miss any of the game! (I know I will) Quote
throwback Posted November 27, 2016 Author Report Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Yeah, I'd imagine ESPN/TV guide lists it that way in case first game ends early, then NU-VT starts 1/2 hour later, so it could start at say 3:25 or something. Edited November 27, 2016 by throwback Quote
