I was surprised they didn't defend the kick back man. That seemed like a junior high thing (and I coach junior high)!

Well, then, you're at least one level above Kidney! ;)

I think I missed the Kidney joke...is that good or bad?!?!

Former poster who went by the nickname "Kidney" (and "whiteknuckle" before that, among other monikers) claimed to be able to authoritatively critique Doc Sadler's roster management based on his experience coaching 8th grade girls (championship caliber) basketball.  I don't think he lost a game in 20 seasons.  Undefeated all that time.  He's the stuff of legends.

Having a hard time deciding which was my favorite game of the season, last night or the OU-KU game a couple months ago that went to 3OT. As someone said it was a much needed turnaround because both FF games were a  snoozefest. I think last night has a slight edge just because it was a buzzer beater for the NC. Overall a great end to the season, also very happy that the four year player coach won. Experience more often than not trumps talented freshmen

That...was a good basketball game.  My walk-away thought was that nobody lost that game; rather, Nova WON that game.

That is how a game is supposed to be. I did think a foul with 35 seconds left gave the advantage to 'Nova on how the final sequence went, and it was a highly suspect call to give Villanova charity tosses. But, all in all, Carolina has to defend that final play to have any complaint; and, of course, they didn't D up the trailer. D'oh

Norm, I thought it was 5th grade girls. My joke to Jason doesn't make much sense if it was 8th grade.   :(

My favorite game was the one where we won.  Which one?  Any of 'em.

LOL well I feel a tad better now! And no, my JH teams aren't undefeated!!

Maybe it was 5th grade. All I know is he never lost a game and knew how to manage players better than any mere college coach. He was king of roster decisions.

Well someone has to be Norm. :)

Game last night saved the NCAA bacon. Another blowout would have been devastating. And Nebraska had a representative on the court at game's end. ( see Higgins, John).

I obviously was rooting for NC, but the whole crew and Higgins especially killed the flow of that game with the touch and then inconsistent foul calls. He also tried to stare down kids after he would make a bad call against them, like he was looking the T someone up. Officials and their egos.

I guess that is how one becomes the busiest referee in the NCAA this year. That, and the blondest hair mousse. And , by the way, the classic finale drew the lowest television ratings ever. I wonder who was the genius who decided it should tip off at 9pm on the east coast?

Jimmy there was a player at KSC when I was there named Higgins, a guard, same person?

Just did some digging and John is indeed a Loper of days past.

Was Randy Cipriano there when you were a student? I just finished a tour of the Archway with grandsons last weekend and thought it was pretty good despite the sort of mediocre reports I had read. Oh, and the cranes were pretty neat too. I think anyone living in Nebraska should see both at some time in their lives. Also wonder if any HS team has a Crane for a mascot? Would seem more fitting than a Jeff, for example. And while Nebraska refs are still a topic, I also noted Kipp Kissinger on several of the tourney courts this year. For my book, anyone Tom Crean thinks "sucks" as a referee must be ok in my book.

The Jeffs are named for Fairbury being in Jefferson County.

Apparently there was a semi-pro basketball league that had a team in Kearney named the Cranes. [shea Cotton played for them in '05 (he was Bron Bron before there ever was one, by the way...]

No Randy was just before my time.  I was there when the Lynch twins, Doug Holtmeier, Jon Bergmeier, Les Adelung
