  1. I'm actually going to the game today! First time watching the Huskers at the PBA. I think the Huskers have won like the last 7 or 8 games I've gone to. The streak continues today. GBR! Also, if you get a chance, get entered in the bone marrow registry. I happen to know someone who might benefit.

  6. Nebraska Cornhuskers (12-8) vs Michigan Wolverines (14-5) Date: Saturday, Jan 23th, 2016 Time: 1:00 p.m. CST Broadcast Information Television: ESPN2 Online: WatchESPN.com Announcers: Dave Lamont and Dan Dakich Satellite Radio: Sirius (Ch. 135); XM (195) Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Ben McLaughlin Michigan Info Head Coach: John Beilein Location: Ann Arbor, MI Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Wolverines Mascots: None Last time out: Beat Minnesota Typical Rotation Depth: 8 players Offense: On pace to break the B1G 3 pt record Defense: Variety of Zones, man Tempo: Sadler-esque Point Spread: Nebraska by 1.5 Players to watch: Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton Once again Nebraska is catching Michigan without Caris LeVert and 6'6" F Irvin and 6'1" PG Walton have been picking up the slack, both increasing on their double digit scoring average over the last 5 games. Irvin has been shooting nearly 50% from 3 in conference play and Walton is the one Wolverine who makes it to the FT line. The Skinny While the Huskers currently have a 3 game winning streak against Michigan State, they've yet to beat Michigan since joining the B1G. The Wolverines have the look of a classic John Beilein team, scoring at a high efficiency while playing slow, low possession games. Michigan is spamming the 3 ball this year. They have the 11th highest ratio of 3s to FGA in Div 1 and have been deadly, the 9th best 3pt shooting team. Walton along with Duncan Robinson and Aubrey Dawkins have hit over 45% of their 3s on the year. The Huskers are used to playing defense for most of the shot clock and they'll need to as the Wolverines patiently work the ball around to find an open shooter or to set up a pick and roll opportunity. The Huskers have struggled against teams like this, currently 0-3 against teams that shoot more than 40% of their shots from 3. The biggest challenge might be handling Michigan post players who will have a lot of 1 on 1 opportunities. There is a chance that a guy like Mark Donnal or Moritz Wagner goes for 20 if Nebraska isn't careful. Michigan's defense has struggled in league play and will have to figure out how to cover both White and Shields without the length of LeVert to pair with Zak Irvin. We're going to see some zone out of Michigan tomorrow but the Huskers night and day shooting from last year makes this solvable for Nebraska. Against a team that doesn't foul a lot and doesn't block many shots, the Huskers just need to shoot comfortably once they're able to penetrate the lane. Michigan is an excellent defensive rebounding team so don't expect a ton of second chance points in this game. This has all the looks of a clean high scoring game where both teams are trading buckets. Hopefully the momentum of the Huskers along with the home crowd and a #AveryStrong day keeps the winning streak going for the Huskers. 9. I wouldn't pick Jack. That Australian academy really coached him well. He had good ball skills, defense, and toughness before he got here. He's going to get stronger and more explosive, and he'll be a great one regardless, but if you can already shoot, pass, have good footwork, and are crafty around the basket, then you already have a lot of the tools you need. I think he'll average low double-digits and be a Shields-type of stat stuffer (rebounds, assists) before he's out of here. I wouldn't pick Glenn. He's already very good. He'll just contribute more and more. If he focuses on becoming a lock down defender down the road, I might take this back, but I don't see much that needs to be improved offensively. The kid is a stud. He'll average just under 20 a game at some point, and he'll get some double doubles because he's that efficient of a passer. It's going to be his team in the future, and that's exciting. Michael is another one that's been extremely well coached before he got here. He has good footwork and fundamentals already. Athletically, I think he's the one with the most challenges ahead of him. I don't see a ton of upside there, but I see an 8pt, 8rb average down the road as he builds strength on an already good frame. He even looks like the next Chubbick/Reid. Great get. This leaves me to my choice, Ed. I've been high on him since he committed, and I'm not wavering there. If he ever gets to play the 4, he's going to dominate some games. As his coaching and practice reps catch up to his length and raw athleticism, he's going to figure out how to use his gifts under control. I thought the Illinois game was indicative of what we're going to see regularly down the road. There's just too much athleticism, toughness, and will for this kid to not break through. It's only a matter of time. The cool thing with Ed is, I don't know if he'll ever be a stat stuffer, but he'll be a game changer if he can learn to stay on the damned court. The dark horse would be Evelyn. I think this kid's future is bright as a 6'3" true point guard. He has great handles and passing instincts, and he has the body to be a pesky defender. I think he'll develop into a legitimate 3-point threat as well. I'm pretty excited about his future from what I've seen. If we didn't have Glenn, I think he'd be getting minutes, and I think he'll play a lot next year off the bench.

  10. We got outcoached badly. Michigan has one of the best though, so it happens. Give them credit, they played a hell of a game. We didn't. Effort was there, just wasn't enough to overcome the coaching edge and more importantly the shooting edge they brought. Have to buckle up and steal one on the road at Purdue to cancel it. Unfortunately, cancelling is not good enough at this point.

  13. I really feel like we got beat straight up. They were on fire and made play after play. Effort was good on our part. Literally nothing went our way and we shot very poorly. I'm encouraged by the press though. I think we need to do that against the teams that live/die by the 3 (and always seem to beat us). We were pretty dominant for stretches there. Hopefully we'll learn a lot from this one.

  17. The numbers from 2 offset the numbers from 3. Michigan is 4-14 from 2. We are 11-19 from 2 despite shooting 2-12 from 3. That means we are +18 from 2. They are 6-11 from 3, after I think they are started, at least 3-4 from 3 when I checked. That means they we are -12 from 3. Need to get to the line in the 2nd half, somehow.

  22. While I think Dakich is a good color guy, I don't think it is a good policy to let him announce games involving his own son. No matter how objective one tries to be, there will always be a vested interest. Why not use some other commentator on the roster?

  23. It is right up there. An overlooked game was winning at Indiana a couple years ago to set up that Wisconsin game. Went in there on senior night as 6 point dogs and came out of there with a HUGE win.

  24. hopefully you are correct...but to add to it the first year Miles beats Creighton will be the first year we win an NCAA game. But we didn't beat Creighton this year?? So your theory is false!
