  1. The winner of the Bo-Nee duel then has a drinking contest with Devaney. If Nee can sneak by Pelini in the semis, he has a real chance of knocking off Bob. Special guest Tom Osborne will provide play by play condemnation. Tom "Dadgumit Nee sneaks in a double F-bomb there are on Bo" Tom "SHOOT I didn't see Bo calling for the misdirection F-Bomb there, we have a shucks darn contest again." Tom "Son of a gun Bob just finished another shot of whiskey while flirting with the cute lady sitting next to him"

  3. To accommodate Bo, I humbly suggest the Devaney F-----g Dungeon.

  4. I understand his rant on fair weather Nebraska fans and those that leave the games early. Anyone who has been on this board for any length of time whatsoever can understand his rant. Was the rant over the top, certainly. Was he right, absolutely. Was he right about the majority of the OWH reporters, no. There is only one that deserves that blast.

  8. All, As some of you may or may not know, we are no longer going to be playing in the Devaney Center next year and have instead built a brand new arena. Given our change of venue, now seems like an appropriate time to potentially change the namesake of the men's basketball forum. Here is how the process will work: Over the course of the next 1-2 weeks, feel free to put down any moniker you'd prefer for this section of the board. After this time, a poll will be started with up to 20 (the max limit for a poll) choices and we'll have the polls open for a couple of weeks. During the voting process you'll be allowed to vote on as many names as you'd like. The consensus winners will then be voted on by the HHC admin team. BTW, you won't have to bother mentioning "Devaney Dungeon"....this will by default be one of your voting choices.

  9. I will remove my rose colored glasses for a few minutes and provide a dose of reality. I will then put those rose colored glasses back on and maintain my geekfest until a time to be determined. Walter Pitchford...he played paltry minutes for Florida and then transferred. We are counting on Walter for significant minutes, scoring, leadership, rebounds, et al. What should we really expect? Gallegos...played a lot of minutes for and was our main scoring threat...will he hoist prayers this year or will he shoot a much better percentage? Petteway...He was a role player for Texas Tech. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds for a rather pedestrian team. We have heard a number of positive reports about his practice habits...will he be a difference maker right away? Shavon...two words...sophomore jinx...Hope it doesn't happen, pray that it doesn't happen, but it has happened before. Benny...two words...last year. Hope that he is better, but if he isn't... Biggs...terrific in HS, terrific in Juco, but oftentimes it takes a season or a major portion of a season to get your basketball legs under you. Smith...same as Biggs, but had a reputation of being a bit, uhhh lazy. He certainly looks the part...but...who knows. Rivers...showed nice improvement from his freshman year to his sophomore year. That improvement must continue. Will it? Webster, Fuller, Hawkins...we have heard enough to be excited. Will they be as good, or better than billed? Serg...he has to be better than last year...right? Right? RIGHT? So, there is a lot of promise, but as many, if not more questions that need to be answered. So I am cautiously optimistic, but I do not want to be overly bold. Oh what the heck, NCAA tournament or bust. There, my glasses are back on and adjusted.

  11. Yes & Yes. What is really refreshing is filling out 10 names and not one of them played at a class B school.

  13. Just to bring this thread back to a basketball theme, I am pondering whether Bo or Danny Nee would win the all time Nebraska F-Bomb title in a one on one shout out. The champion could then compete for the national Big F-Deal title against Tommy Lasorda and Gunther Cunningham. Kenny Powers could judge the event.

    Pitchford

Anyone catch this article on Walter Pitchford in the Omaha World Herald over the weekend by Lee Barfknecht? Walter's picture took up most of the top half of the front page of the Sports section that day. Here are some blurbs from the article: A chance recommendation got the 6-foot-10, 230-pounder a look from Nebraska, a scholarship and finally a place to call home. “That’s what it has felt like since Day One,” Pitchford said. “I love this place.” . . . “The biggest thing I learned in my first year here was loyalty,” said Pitchford . . . “Playing for Coach Miles has really put it in perspective. You have to play your role.” Pitchford’s growth in maturity hasn’t muted his confidence. “I think I am the man I need to be to play at this level,” he said, “and dominate at this level.”

  17. he will be putting out a list of his final schools. My guess is GU could be out as well as TAMU after not taking his visit last week. Could be a 3 horse race with GT and OSU and even then his AAU coach when asked about the OSU visit said hes not sure yet. Could be a storm a brewing.
