He won't be the same player but hopefully he provides the same leadership qualities that Griesel did. “I care more about the other team’s scorer than my team’s top scorer,” Allick said. “That’ll be a major indication of how we’re doing as a team.” Quote Share this comment

Report reply Dead Dog Alley 3,016 Posted August 8, 2023 Ten years ago today, a lot of people, including myself, lost a really good friend. It was someone I'd known for close to 40 years as he grew up a few miles away. I didn't go to the same high school, but I was in the same 4-H club, worked some of the same jobs in the summer, was on the same high school team for a year, took a whole bunch of classes with him in college, and got to hang around him a decent amount. He had the rare ability to make sitting through the dullest things like a Thermodynamics class entertaining. I never heard anyone speak a bad word of him, except that maybe his feet were too big and he didn't cut his fingernails down enough. He was also the stepfather of Josiah Allick and his siblings. Josiah switched his jersey number to 53 this year, in honor of him, because that was his football jersey number. I don't know Josiah, but I hope he has a huge season this year. Go Big Red. huskerkid21, Art Vandalay, Norm Peterson and 9 others 2 1 9 Quote Share this comment

Report reply FredsSlacks 1,102 Posted June 12 interesting. i feel like if he was 2 inches taller he'd be getting drafted this year. same could be said about a lot of players i guess. Quote Share this comment
Report reply Huskerpapa 9,144 Posted June 12 (edited) I'm glad that Coach Hoiberg latched onto these fine young men as coaches. Both will bring positive, team first mojo to the table. I am a bit surprised about Josiah. In my mind, he is definitely a great addition. But I thought he would go to Europe for a few years, make some good coin, and see the world. But hey, their loss is our gain. Edited June 12 by Huskerpapa cornfed24-7 1 Quote Share this comment
Report reply Huskerpapa 9,144 Posted June 12 Looking into it a bit, I see the salary they should get is in the 40 to 50,000 range, plus they can pursue further degrees. I would also guess they have the benefit of the training table, medical treatment and perhaps even NIL type benefits. We'll see what he does after he heals up. Huskerpapa 1 Quote Share this comment
