The 6-8 White is one of two Hawkeyes in double figures and does most of his damage at the foul line. The sophomore averages nearly 7 attempts per game which is good for the 6th best FT rate in Division I and the best in the B1G (Trevor Mbakwe is 13th, Cody Zeller is 21st)
Playing for the postseason
We're probably not playing for Nebraska's postseason, but Iowa's combination of good record and weak non-conference schedule means they need to put away the Huskers twice (and maybe in the B1G tourney) in order to make the NCAA tourney cut.
Iowa today, in some regards, is what Nebraska should be in the next 1-2 years: A young, deep team with a shot at the tournament. In addition to regularly playing 9-10 players a game, Iowa typically has a height advantage at all times, with only Nebraska native Mike Gesell and backup point guard Anthony Clemens as the only players under 6-5.
The Hawkeyes are "Husker Bad" from the 3pt line and their effective FG% is fairly unimpressive. Iowa makes up for their lack of shooting by attacking the basket at all times. They've acutally made more FTs (463) than the Huskers have attempted (410). Not only does this give Iowa a scoring advantage, but against a shallow bench like the Huskers roll out the Huskers might be in for a long day.
If Nebraska can remained disciplined and knock down a few shots, they have a great chance of pulling off this minor upset.
Prediction: Nebraska 68 - Iowa 66 with a 34% chance of Runzas
