I'm ready to fire Mo and hire someone who can run an offense.

Brilliant. Especially since Mo coaches defense.

Yes. I didn't stutter. We need much more emphasis on scoring. We were good on D before Mo arrived. It's clear they struggle on offense still. Offense has improved across the country due to shorter clock and how officials are calling things.

Possibly Hammond although tonight didn't give one much hope.

He's gone from a guy who was zero impact as a freshman to someone who at points was a reliable post player for portions of games.  For those of us here who lust over what big dumb senior post player Creighton has on any given year he's still certainly on that trajectory. If we can keep picking up one of these guys every year eventually we have upperclassmen post players.

But you seem to be blaming a defensive coach for our poor offense.  Perhaps recruiting some shooters would better address the situation than firing the defensive coach.

Our offense, especially shooting, is the best of the Miles era in a tempo free context. It's very possible it's the most efficient overall since the 2003-04 Barry Collier team that won a couple of NIT games. If anything, our defense has been the let down which one could chalk up to our younger players.  I suppose we could blame Mo for that too.

The threads where we miss the game winning shot are decidedly different than the ones where we make it.

These end of the season ones are punchy regardless of our record though.

Bummer. That's about all I have to say.

They can't shoot that terrible three games in a row so... upset Purdue on senior night?

They have us sandwiched between Maryland and Wisconsin while giving us the business on the road so they're an overlooking us factor there. Couple that with their less than stellar road appearance this year and you have the makings of a close game.

Why don't we want a win against Rutgers?

If your talking B10 Tournement, I am sure Miles and the team still feel the NCAA is within reach. They will have to win the whole Tournement though. The less games you have to play, the more likely that is that you will win it.

We don't have that in this years class, I really like Roby but shooter is probably not how I would describe him right now.....I'm taking the wait and see approach with Gill.  I have heard good things and he looked solid in the scrimmage....not sure he's going to be someone that shoots a solid percentage from mid-rage to deep ball.  We currently sit at 116 defensive ranking on Kenpom....not close to being good enough.  If Molinari is strictly a "defensive coach" he needs to do much better going forward.  Like get us back into the top 25 as far as defensive rankings go.

The Big ten is tough on the road. Every team we play is good at home, yet we haven't done well at home this season. Penn State is 10-3 at home on the year. The only teams to beat Penn State this month are Nebraska and Iowa, but Penn State also handed a loss to each of those teams. They also beat league-leading Indiana.

Most saw this game as a great opportunity to grab a win, which it was, we just couldn't finish. My point is though that most saw this as an "easier" game because it was a lower tier team in the current standings. This league ain't easy and this team is young. Gotta learn how to finish these close games. Gotta have the experience to grind when things aren't going well and master damage control to not get down by 18 in the first place.

Have to win. Message boards lean to each extreme on a result. Message boards lean to each extreme based on one basket. As much as it sucks to not be able to finish, the progress of the team and its youth is pretty much the same at this point of the season whether it's a 1 point win or a 1 point loss.

Us fans but especially the team need to bury these shitty games in the books, tally a chalk mark in the experience column, and have the will to rid these clunkers from the schedule. Guys need to grow mentally. Gain an edge and win some damn games.

This league isn't getting any easier. Everyone else is bringing in ball players. A team like Penn State has a ridiculously good class coming in next year.

Let's go. Tired of these threads.

Our offense has improved this year. Improved enough that if we had a solid defensive squad I'd put our conference record right now at 10-6, not the 6-10 that it is. So many close games that if we were a great defensive team this year, we get those games.

Yeah the announcers made it sound like Penn St is recruiting well and their season is certainly going the opposite way ours is.

Granted weren't those two announcers sitting in a studio instead of the arena?

Why don't we want a win against Rutgers?

Why would you want us to lose our last two regular season games?

Of course I don't want us to lose our last two games. But even if we best Purdue we could still get the 11th seed.

We need to get to 16 wins to avoid a losing record. Getting to play Rutgers could help us win 2 in the tourney.

Who knows maybe we can beat Purdue. I don't think it's an automatic loss but having to beat Purdue and @northwestern is a tall order at this point.

How does playing a game the day before playing the 6th seed make us more likely to win than a 7-10 or 8-9 seed matchup with 4 days of rest and prep time?

It doesn't but it makes us way more likely to get 2 wins. Maybe you don't agree that having a winning record is a goal at this point.

Secondary to them winning the B1G tournament? Sure.

In the grand scheme of things I'll take this current team losing to good teams over beating bad teams because wins and loses are just a subset of making the NCAA tournament and getting the chance to win a game there.

Can't we do both? I have faith we won't lose to a bad team I mean its sad we are quibbling about this but that is the current state of the program.

that is the current state of the program.

It's not though.

Unless we lose to Northwestern it's not.

Unless we lose in the B1G tournament it's not.

And even then? It's still not.

How is the current state of the program not the current state of the program?
