Leslee Smith will be a Husker by Monday IMO. It's just a formality at this point. Some highlights:

- Nebraska has always been his first choice.

- When asked if he could commit soon, his reply was, "It looks like it."

- He's from the British Virgin Islands.

- He feels he fits in perfectly in Nebraska's offense.

- He enjoyed meeting the players. Felt they were laid back like he is. He even played some pick-up basketball with guys from the team.

- He loved the facilities.

- He doesn't feel like taking any more visits.

- Wants to talk to his JUCO coaches before making a decision.

I expect him to commit by Monday. I still say this is the replacement for Voochie.

I have the exact same feeling. Seems like the situation where the kid is blown away with the facilities and will pull the trigger shortly after returning home.

So is sai out if Atewe and smith commit in the next few days?

Robin said dont be surprised if Nebraska over-signed if all 3 wanted N.

Yeah... At that time it would be a situation where hey... we are going to have to take you off of scholarship, but you can still stay here as a walk on.  In which case you would see someone transfer I think.

Benny or Vooch would have an unexpected coaches meeting.

My best guess would be Vooch... Probably would not trade a post for a guard, and Benny showed the most upside this year.  But at this point we need to get all three to say they are N first.

Not sure I'd say Benny showed the most upside this year.   I think he showed he was the most ready to contribute this year.   Vucevic may never develop but I do think his upside is above Benny's.   Mostly because Benny's ceiling is pretty low (pun intended)

Yup.

If anyone has to go (errrr, chooses to leave), my money is on BP.

It's been reported by others here that BP recently got a new place with Petteway and Shields. I believe one player will be moving on prior to next season, and that the player in question is Vooch.

I don't really think that Parker moving into a new place with Petteway and Shields means that his scholarship is safe.  I have no inside information and his scholarship may very well be safe, but I just don't think his current living arrangements really offer any sort of concrete evidence for that.

I feel like Vucetic has more potential than Parker. Georgia tech, minnesota, vanderbilt, providence, etc all offered Vucetic.

All Vucetic has to do is improve his strength and conditioning to be a contributor. Parker needs to improve his shot, ball handling, passing, and dribble penetration

What do you think is easier to do?

Nothing would surprise me with vucetic though. I could see him playing 18 minutes a game next year or transferring tomorrow.

I disagree.  I think Benny showed flashes of what could be a very valuable role player on this team.  Vooch... while he showed some flashes against the scruds this year, did not play on a team that was lacking a post all year.  I think Benny has a ceiling high enough to be a valuable role player.  So I guess we agree to disagree.

No, it doesn't mean he's safe, but it makes it very unlikely that he'd be the player who asked to explore other options after the new year.

they are safe as of today :)

Even if Norm "The Dream" decides he wants one of those ships? Norm's talked about his impressive girth and other physical attributes. At the rate we're going through big man recruits, I'd sit by the phone if I were Norm.

Lets never include the words "impressive girth" in the recruiting section again.

Getting Leslee Smith and Sai Tummala is huge now.  Nebraska needs to get at least 2 of the 3 they were going after.

Not necessarily.  They are only must gets if they are actually good enough to play and elevate the team.  Miles has already shown that he is going to play the 6 to 8 best players on the team, regardless of position.  If either Sai or Leslee cannot crack the top 8 or 9, then not signing them means almost nothing.  Even if Smith plays a position of need at center, I think Miles has shown that he would rather play a better player and go small than play a bigger player who lacks the skill or strength.  Heck, Miles refused to play Andre almost all of conference play even though he is a relatively skilled big man.  I seriously doubt that Smith is more skilled than Andre.  He may be better athlete, but is that enough to crack the top 8, I don't know.

There was an article about a month ago in which Miles was interviewed about recruiting. I tried to find it but I can't even remember what publication it was in.  Anyway, in the article, he talked about his recruiting philosophy and how he did not want to "reach" on any recruits simply because the team may be in need of another player at a certain position.  In fact, he specifically mentioned how many teams will recruit and sign big men late in the spring signing period who are not of the talent level they normally recruit.  (That is why you might see an Oklahoma State offer a guy like Shang Ping in the spring, for example.  My example, not Miles).  Miles said he was determined not to fall into this trap.  He said that in a rebuilding project like NU, you can't waste any scholarships.  Even suggested it would be better to hold on to the scholarship for the next recruiting cycle if necessary.

To be honest, after reading that article, I was surprised to see that he offered Smith, and maybe even Sai.  I am still giving Miles the benefit of the doubt, so I am trusting they see something in these guys, but only time will tell.
