So, win or lose, our Kenpom ranking should go up after tonight, right?  It'll just go up a lot more if we win.

We're favored to lose by 6. If we lose by more, our number goes down.

...and we're at #97 today, so look for us to be back below the 100 line tomorrow.  Or is it above, I can't ever get it right.

To put it another way, I full expect us to be back in triple digits tomorrow.

We're kickin some butt tonight.

Who's with me?!

Being "favored to lose" seems like an oxymoron.

It's the language of the moral victory.

Man, I wish I could delude myself into thinking we have even the slightest chance tonight.

But I just can't do it!

Go out and get some NyQuil before the game. I hear that helps.

Well, sure...

Diamond Stone could fall into the bottomless pit at the Mystery Spot.

Melo Trimble could visit a hypnotist and start to think he's a chicken.

Jake Layman could be distracted rescuing a lady from a burning building.

Damonte Dodd could be sold a tonic by a huckster that makes his head balloon to massive size.

...and so on...

:D

Jake Layman is on my all-time least favorite college basketball player.  I mean, in the Jason Sutherland-Aaron Craft category.Something about that guys bugs. I will lobby for the student section to stay on him.

Wholeheartedly concur, HB. Layman is a dipstick.

He's dirty.  And he's a little beotch.

Can anyone resurrect the tape of him elbowing the Penn State player on one end of the court and then running down and grabbing another by an arm and falling and making it look like HE was the one who was fouled?

Someone needs to plant that dude's pretty-boy nose on the back of his face.

If we want a legitimate shot at making the tournament in the future, we need to get those Top 100 wins. If we hadn't beat Michigan State, there's a very clear line drawn in the sand against conference opponents for us this year.

Posted

But we did beat Mich. St. And think where we'd be if we'd finished off against Cincinati or Miami or Northwestern or Maryland, etc. If we'd pulled off any one or more of those--we'd be sitting pretty.

It's almost like losing six consecutive coin flips.  Odds are good we shoulda won one or two of those.

KenPom  has your back on this one as he has a "Luck Statistic" that we are towards the bottom on.

Luck - A measure of the deviation between a team’s actual winning percentage and what one would expect from its game-by-game efficiencies. It’s a Dean Oliver invention. Essentially, a team involved in a lot of close games should not win (or lose) all of them. Those that do will be viewed as lucky (or unlucky).
