I'm guessing we'd find room for a player like McKay, Niang, Long, Morris or Thomas.  Probably a few others too....

Another thought for this thread --- If Hoiberg goes to the Bulls when they ultimately can or trade Thibs, is there anybody on the Iowa St roster that would be appealing?

The thing that struck me about ISU's roster is that they've been the 3 seed for two years with Niang being their only post player and he's 6'8"

'Clones also had a 6'-9" PF, Jameel McKay, who was pretty salty down low.

Paschal Chutwu is transferring from Providence.  7'2" and will have three years of eligibility left after he sits out a year.  Might be a possibility.

Averaged 2.8 pts and 2.45 reb his true freshman year for the Friars.  Was 4 star and ranked #61 by Rivals, 64 by Scout, and 61 by ESPN out of High School.

Paschal Chukwu.

His freshman year stats aren't anything to write home about.  Less than 10 minutes/game and about 2.6 pts and 2.4 bds.

However, he was the #61 player in the nation coming out of HS per Rivals.  Book on him is that he's raw on both ends of the floor but athletic and active with a high ceiling and loads of potential.  He's 7'2" and 230#.  So great size.  They say he actually has decent hands and is developing a nice jump hook.

Sitting out a year as a transfer would probably do him some good.  So, if you know you'll be in need of a big man the season after next, do you take a flyer on a guy like this?

I couldn't remember where I saw those other stats.  Guess I didn't scroll up far enough past the post by Auroran.

Robin Washut retweeted Kyle Neddenriep

Huge pickup for Purdue, which now becomes a legit Big Ten title contender this season.

Robin Washut added,

Confirmed with guardian Roosevelt Barnes that Mr. Basketball Caleb Swanigan is headed to Purdue. Had committed to Michigan State.

Purdue is working their way back up. It is good for the B1G to see them back near the top.

AJ Hammons coming back is huge for them. Gotta think Purdue will be somewhere near the top.

I think Maryland might win the league running away, but Purdue isnt far off.

Just heard that MN is out, Flip Saunders will be coaching T-Wolves (again)

I hadnt heard that. Just checked and the beat writer for the Wolves Jon Krawczynski had a tweet that says:

"FWIW: just told hoiberg and Wolves rumors are untrue. Flip and Fred are tight but Flip is coaching next year"

Not sure if that is much more than a smoke screen or "playing the game"

I think the wolves would 100% take Hoiberg or Thibs if he leaves Chi-town.

I would also be happy if the Wolves took Izzo...

Imagine if both Hoiberg and Izzo ran to the NBA....

Wont happen with Izzo, but that would be nice for the 'skers.

Though we got Anton Gill, another interesting SG hit the market yesterday. Shabazz Muhammad's younger brother Rashad, who has been the only bright spot for SJSU the last two years, is hitting the road to find a team that can beat a D1 team.  He is a legit player and would flourish even more imo when hes not the marked man for every opponent.

Brother of a T-Wolve? Sign me up! We can be the Phoenix Suns of College Basketball!

I will be honest, I didnt think he would be a good college player watching him in HS, granted most colleges didnt as he only got a few offers and ended up at San jose State.  To his credit he came out his freshman year guns blazing and has averaged 13.2 his freshman year and 13.9 last year on a team that finished 2-28 and he was the only bright spot.  I think with a year off to improve his outside shooting even more that he will be a very solid P5 player in 2 years.

"Paschal Chukwu, a 7-foot-2, 225-pound center who has announced plans to leave Providence after his freshman year, will visit Kansas University the first weekend of June, Chukwu told Jayhawkslant.com on Friday.

Chukwu said he is also planning a trip to Nebraska."

Hmm, interesting.  Only wish he was immediately eligible.
