Silverbacked1 Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 I don't include in game threads as an exemplar of the true negative nancys out there. There are lots of good fans who make comments during the game in the heat moment that are negative. Those comments get a pass from me. Maybe you just shouldn't read the in-game threads.Wait Hal that was thought out and insightful. Get out of here now! I will say that I feel that the board has changed some this year, but much like the basketball season next year will be better. And we still have the women to worry about, because we know they are going to get screwed with their seeding. Did I really just read a post by Silverbacked about our women getting screwed? hummmm guess I did. Quote
bball23 Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 I have said this forever, and will believe it until the day I die. We live in such a football State, that fans (of both CU and NU) get overly worked up after wins, and overly worked up after losses. In College Basketball you play 30 plus games a year. You will look really good in a lot of them, really bad in some of them, and very average in some of them. That's basketball! Unless you are the Kentucky's, Dukes or the world, that is the reality. I don't think I have ever posted during an in-game thread because people are an emotional roller coaster during these games. I just sometimes wonder what some of the people behind the board are like in real life. Do they quite immediately when things get tough? Gloat when things go well? Silverbacked1 and Noah121 2 Quote
HB Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 It was still a fun season no matter how you shake it. I got to spend time with my dad, who just turned 73, at the games. Yeah losses can be disappointing, but they are a part of the game. GREAT perspective, Nighthawk. Cherish every moment. Best time you could spend. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

Sharing the highs of beating Cincinnati in 2-OT in the same week as the lows of losing to UIW & CU summed up how topsy-turvy the life of a Nebrasketball fan can be (seems like those particular outcomes felt 'extra' for some reason). On a personal note with a myriad of things going on in life's travails & trials, I was just glad to be able to watch & share the moments with my best bud, my bro. Life is good when you can experience the wacky world of Nebrasketball (& Husker football, also wacky) with a fellow fanatic! GBR jayschool 1 Quote
PimpMario Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 Norm we already established there are no free runzas. I love husker basketball and disappointing seasons are part of that love. But there is always next year. Which is the epitome of positivity. And every off season I convince myself we will make the sweet 16. This offseason is no different. I Believe miles will get it figured out in the offseason. And I will agree with the sentiment that anything that happens in game threads stays there. Quote

During the regular season, one or two losses in a row do not derail a season like they do in football. The only time I post in in-game threads is to provide score updates or brief play-by-play. I keep it mostly objective. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
atskooc Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 I know I can get carried away in game threads. Said some things I'm not terribly proud of. It is what it is. Quote
jimmykc Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 Reading some of the above comments makes me want to recommend a book I have mentioned before on this board which epitomizes the meaning of being a sports fan. I'm speaking of "Win it For..." a book composed of one long thread begun on a Red Sox blog in 2004. You don't have to be a Red Sox fan to appreciate the passion and true bonding between family, friends, and total strangers which occurs when we vicariously follow a group of athletes wearing the uniform we all happen to prefer. kldm64 Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 I, for one, am 100% glad Doc was let go and 100% glad Coach Miles is in charge of the program now. Doc had 7 years and got us nowhere. Coach Miles has been here 3 years and has taken us to the NCAA tournament 33% of the time he's been our coach. Along with that, this could be one of the best recruiting classes Nebraska basketball has ever had for next year. I'm as disappointed as anyone how this season has gone but when I step back and look at the big picture, I'm very happy with the direction of the program and fan support as opposed to the previous coaching staff. Miles ahead of the rest 1 Quote

Yeah losses can be disappointing, but they are a part of the game. Great memories there, thanks for sharing. I took my wife to her first game (Michigan St) this year. I basically had to drag her to the game, but......she had a great time. Of course, having Loge box seats for the game didn't hurt anything! Nighthawk 1 Quote
Red Rum Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 I have too small of an attention span to be reading an in game thread while I'm watching the game. It's all I can do to catch up on what people are saying on twitter during time outs and breaks in the action. Quote
jimmykc Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 Noah, it would be more helpful if you didn't post them in Hebrew. Quote

And we still have the women to worry about, because we know they are going to get screwed with their seeding. Interestingly enough, getting "screwed" to a 10, 11 or 12 seed is better than being the 8 or 9. There is no difference in talent or, really, coaching - and I mean zero - between seeds 6-11 on the women's side, but there's a huge difference between the No. 1 and, say, No. 3 seeds. I tell the truth: BYU, seeded 12th last year, was every bit as *talented* as Nebraska. And BYU whipped No. 5 seed NC State's rear end. You'll take an 11 or 12 in the women's tournament. Quote
