Just had the pleasure of watching Hammonds take 4 steps with no travel call.  3 guys at $700 a game and they can't make the most obvious call since Rice's run for glory in the Illinois-Nebraska  game last year.

The league needs to do something about these guys.  They do indeed suck, suck, suck.

It does help to vent.

is 700 apiece even close to what they make?

I sure hope not!    They would need more to attract quality referees.

I was told be a guy that ref's, that the div 1 guys get hotels and travel paid for as well. Now he could be wrong, but what do I know.

I had heard something like that recently. Whatever it is, they should be docked for that call.  Perhaps a video of the play can be posted at some point.  Horrible no-call.

The top-end officials get $1,000-2,500/game with travel and food:

2 calls from tonight's game bothered me but had no real impact on the game. Shavon got blocked and clearly pushed under our hoop, then TP called for an and 1 on the other end. Then the play where Tai gets pushed down (maybe some acting involved) then gets called when another player falls over him. Consistency is all we ask for!

Well then, what did you think of David's 4th "foul" on the 3 point attempt?...He did almost touch him!   +3 ou

You are correct, those calls had no impact.

I just wish the powers to be would rewrite the rulebook to take traveling out or redefine it as it's called or not called today.  Might as well take palming and 3 seconds out of the book too.

I think they may be so busy anticipating the fouls to be; missing the ones that 'are.'

Although they really didn't affect the outcome of the game, it would be nice to get to the line more, especially when its deserved.  (IIRC, didn't our FT shooting last year season help to ignite our run?)

Anybody see the end of regulation of the Minnesota-Michigan State game?

Why is it, when you drive your shoulder into a defender on the way to the basket, it is an offensive foul?  But when Joey King drove his shoulder into the defender on a 3-point "attempt" it's a defensive foul?

It seems like contact in the paint sometimes just comes with the territory and no call is made, but even the slightest contact (real or imagined) on a 3-point shot, even if the contact is initiated by the shooter, is always a foul.

I had the opportunity to travel to a NU vs. K-State game with a ref from NW Iowa during a Coach Collier year.  Can't remember the exact year, but K-state absolutely smoked us and John McCardle from Millard North (football recruit) was in attendance getting recruited to play for the Wildcats.  It was on a weekday, I think a Wednesday.

They get reimbursed for all travel, hotel if applicable, and are provided a meal by the home team.  K-state gave him a box very similar to what you would see in a typical Jimmy John's lunch box.  This particular ref did NCAA and even Final Four games, so he was on the high side, at the time I believed it was close to 1,250.00 per game, and he typically did 2-3 games per 7 days.

So you're saying they make around $500/hr for actual working time, all expenses paid, tax deductions for any leftover expenses, and even enough time with "hectic" travel schedules to hold a "regular" job and have family time after the season? I would guess most on this board would take that gig even if they had to put up with some verbal abuse and second guessing on occasion. I'll bet they even threw in a pickle and a chocolate chip cookie with that Jimmy John's meal.

Better question:  Did he get called for it?
