Miles' Illinois Post-Game Radio Interview

I don't think I've ever heard Miles volunteer information about a signed recruit. 

 

I don't think it was really in answer to a question about the recruits coming in; more of a question about how you deal with Illinois' big man.

 

And Miles just kind of threw it out there, volunteered it, that with a guy like Ed Morrow coming in, he's just a really outstanding rebounder and so we'll have a better rebounding presence next year.

 

And then, another question later, he throws it out there about Ed Morrow again.  And gave stats about Ed's last couple of games.

 

These were not questions asking Miles about his recruits.  These were questions about our current rebounding and our current bigs.  And Miles was going out of his way to talk about Morrow.

 

(It stood out to me because he pronounced it like "Murrow" instead of "Morrow" but, still.) 

 

Ya think Miles might be pretty high on this kid?

it would be really awesome if this kid could grow another two inches and we for once could have the Anthony Davis, Frank Kaminsky and other similar situations, i mean no matter im excited for this kid to get on campus, but if he had a freak growth spurt and came to campus at 6'10...i probably just cry for a few days out of sheer joy..

The kid is Dennis Rodman in the best possible way.  He's a bona fide game changer.  I was floored by his motor.  Immediate impact.

I believe after the Indiana game he brought up Morrow and another player (can't remember if it was Watson or White), to be honest, almost felt like he was trying to keep the fan base excited for the future because this year has been pretty disappointing so far.

I'm thrilled to have Ed coming here next year.  That said, I'll use my general rule of thumb and expect about 50% of what the fan base is expecting out of him right now.  Just to be fair to the guy.

I may have mis-heard...but I am pretty sure he said both Morrow and Jacobson were "tenacious" rebounders.
