Yeah, woulda been nice to land Cornish or that dang Deng.  I feel the disappointment.  We did SO much better than anyone expected we'd do this past season that you had to think it'd pay near immediate dividends on the recruiting front.  But, so far, the results have been less than impressive.  Am I feelin' ya?

OK, let me ask you some questions:

1.  Given his gregarious nature and effervescent personality, can you imagine Miles turning off potential recruits?  Yeah, me neither.  His personality has to be a net plus.  Not being a high school kid being recruited but just comparing what I've seen of Barry Collier and Tim Miles, I'd rather go play for Miles and it's not even close.

2.  OK, so, Coach's personality is not a liability, but is it an asset?  Would you agree that there are probably a lot of coaches out there who are not as immediately likeable and probably not a lot of coaches out there who are more immediately likeable than Tim Miles?  And, if so, would you agree that would be an advantage in recruiting, all other things being equal?

3.  Given his energy level, do you suppose there are too many coaches out there who out-work him?  Maybe some.  But how many coaches not only have the magnetic personality AND a high energy level?

Give it time.  Don't put that crap on Miles, I understand.  But still, it takes awhile to break through with recruits.  Not worried.  Not yet anyway.

Kreklow walked on and turned down a schollie.  When can NU have that type of good fortune?  Im going back on the window.

The Kreklow walk-on status is probably the most sincere and unfeigned expression by Kreklow that anyone could ever make on where he believes his services are most greatly needed. Assuming the walk-on report is true, Kreklow is betting his own money that he can play--a lot--for Creighton during his final year and that he might not be needed as much at other schools that have schollies available. Hope it works out for him.

Yep, walk-on status was approved & possibly directed by Kreklow's parents. Probably a good fit w/ Jaybirds' system.

I guess my thought was that if you could design a coach to take over a program like Nebraska -- one that was at the bottom of a major conference with no particular noteworthy hoops history -- if you didn't bring in a big name like a Calipari or something, you'd design a coach pretty much like the one we have, right?  I mean this seriously.

Those who know him well might have seen his faults, and I'm sure there are some.  But even his detractors would have to admit that he's an immediately likeable guy who makes a strong, favorable first impression.

Dimes pointed out not too long ago that we're getting our name in with better players.  We might not be closing on players but the players we're losing out on are a cut above the guys we've lost out on in the past.  I think there's something to that sentiment.  Credit Miles for even getting us in the running with some of these kids.

But it takes more than being a likeable guy to put us over the top and that's where the crap that Miles doesn't want put on him comes in.  At the end of the day, we're still a school that hasn't won an NCAA game.  I think we've probably started to get on the radar of better kids with the way this season finished.  Another season getting our dance ticket punched and our prospects should improve even further.

But don't blame Miles for not closing on some of these kids; credit Miles for the fact that we were even among the finalists.

Norm, I dont think blame is the right word. People aint blamin Miles for nuthin. Being concerned bout not closing aint blame, its just concern.

Not sure why anyone would be ready to jump out the window when we are returning a preseason top 25 team.

Seems like a premature move.

Not to mention we will probably be seeing a visit from a 4 star Kansas transfer soon.

Bingo! Nice outlook on the big picture.
