Good for Doc!  I'm glad to see him go to a job that is not a rebuilding situation.  He'll have a chance for immediate success.

Southern Miss loses 4 of 5 starters.  He will have his work cut out for him next year.

He just needs to grab some of the guys transferring out of Iowa St to make room for the guys transferring in to Iowa St

I guarantee that Southern Miss fans are going to love Doc after his press conference today.  His folksy personality will really resonate with the people down there.

Also, it will be interesting to see if he brings any of his old staff from Nebraska with him.

At least it's April and not August.

While he might have some transfers, it looks like he currently has full roster so he can work on recruiting 2015 instead of 2014.

They have what I would consider a weird roster.  Not a single guy from Mississippi...not sure how well that bodes for Doc getting guys to attend there.

One other thing I find interesting: Doc came to us after 2 years of running some guys recruited by Billy G.  Doc is taking over for Donnie Tyndall, a guy who coached two years with some of Larry Eustachy's guys.

Good for him.  This is probably too late to save us any money, if not, that will be nice not paying him al those zeros..

His deal had no offset for any subsequently earned income.

I'll lay odds he doesn't mention either baseline in his speech today and that "ag'in" might come up in the question and answer segment. I think his good old boy recrutin' style will fit better down there and only wish him the best.

I caught some of his presser over lunch.  While didn't use the word "baseline", but he did promise an exciting uptempo style - "they're fixin' to run".

One interesting thing he said, is that he learned from Coach Hoiberg that there is no such thing as a bad shot.  That if they miss, just tell them that they'll make the next one.  So it sounds like he may give his guys more freedom to take quick shots than he did here.

My guess is he's just feeding the masses what they want to hear.  Good luck to Doc...I'm sure he will be a much better fit at So Miss than he was here.

Thanks for the update, Coach. Wonder if anyone counted the "agins". And the avatar change was necessitated by the need to retire Stephen King since he hadn't exactly jump started the Red Sox season. I thought something a little more edgy was necessary. Now, say my name. Say my name! Jimmy, right?

"I don't care about winning a lot of games. I care about one thing --- playing in the NCAA tournament." --- Doc Sadler

Doc is one of the best used car salesman out there. How can you not care about winning alot of games??? What do you think is going to get you in the NCAA tournament??? He is a likeable guy but I'm so glad he isn't our coach anymore.

He's following a guy who won a lot of games but didn't make the NCAA tournament.

That makes sense.  If that is the case, then he needs to improve their SOS as that was a huge draw back on him at NU.  He always wanted to play a cupcake non-conference schedule.  Hope he has better results there than he did here.

The funniest thing about that article is there's actually a place called the "Trent Lott Center".

Careful.

Now that's some funny stuff right there Norm. Post of the Week. (and in a one word post; not exactly your style!)

Better hair, Trent Lott or Conway Twitty?
